in short, we have been discussing the forming of a trial league(with mauti's blessing of course, if he says no, well then I guess the party's over) to test dest's idea, and we need some voulenteers. I'm starting this thread to see if  anyone actually supports, or wants to participate in this idea. if so, please just leave a short post saying yes or no.
Any suggestions/comments should go to the linked thread.

Indeed a interesting idea, but I too will be sticking with my Clan only. I don't feel the need or desire to make/join a new lil side clan.  I rather spend that time with my team perfecting tactics and strategies.

In the trial league, you would be in a new clan
IN ADDITON TO your original clan.
all to the trial league clans would be new and have no affialation with any of the 'normal' clans. ?None of the trial league cbs would be against non trial league clans, and these cbs would not count outside of the trial league ladder.

so you have nothing to lose, and most importantly you are not giving up your current clan

One thing that I might propose is that at the end of the season, we take a one month BL off-season before starting the next season.  In that month you could have a short trial of this league set-up and we would also hold the clan tournement (with the real BL clans).  As is a possibility the R6 and RSD ladders wouldn't be reset and would go on uninterrupted, only the RS ladder would take the break.

Bondo I think that is a very good idea to take a one month off and have sort of an off season/preseason.  We could hold the tounament and  people would be more free.  Also clans could practice and get ready for the regular season.  I think that is a very good idea with like 1 month off to hold special events like the clan tounament.  What do you guys think?

Sorry, I will have no part in this, I don't mean to sound negitive, however, During my 3 year stay on GameRanger, I was with only 1 clan: |?K|, and I intend to keep it that way, you guys can go ahead and do all of that, however, I can say this on the part of myself, and most if not all of my clan, we're staying the way that we are. - Perhaps this has somthing with me being ban, I don't really know, all that I know, is that I think it's a cool idea, but will never work, and I am in no way interested in being a part of it. You guys can go right ahead and do it, however, under your proposal, you drop the battle league for a month? I don't think so. Not for me, I think that it would be best, to have a whole seperate section for those clans and the people who are interested in being in them, again, I don't want to sound negitive to the whole idea, I just want to state that I won't be involved in it, many people have already said this, they just havn't made it as clear, so I am making it clear.

Here is what I'd envision for the month.  You have 10 teams draft at least 3 players and then during the month they play all 9 opposing new clans.

So that means 30 active players would have to committ to it.  I think we could pick the 10 clan leaders by taking some of the current clan leaders.  Or just the first 10 to ask for it.

? ? I feel fairly certain that we could get enough people together to do this. Look at the interest in the 1v1 tourney. Of course, that was a little different than this, but lots of people were excited about that, and nobody said, "I shall not participate because I like my clan too much."

    I think that this idea is worth a trial, and I definitely would enjoy participating. If the High Holies of the BL would be willing to set up a second, separate league for this experiment, the rest could be handled with relative ease, technically speaking.

hmmm. i like infections idea of having a short off season in order to hold the 1v1 and clan tourneys
but i think that it would be best if we just continued on the regular rotation system(one day break i think it is now)
anyway, i would like to say that i would support this idea (DUH!) and would voulenteer to lead one of the clans that are formed

i just have to ask typhy if he would support an off season for the 1v1 and clan tourneys

p.s. would any of you feel any better if we called these teams instead of clans?

Maybe if we did call this a "team" thing. People wont have the idea of giving up their current clans (which all sane people know is not the case).

We can make it happen as a community, i for one am not concerned that it will interfere much with [R], if my members cant put up with me dividing attention a bit, they dont deserve to be in the clan.
None of you should have any trouble, if i am correct in assuming that the intellectual capabilities of the average RS Mac player are higher than the average primate.
t would be too busy too have a clan tournament (with current clans), a team tournament, and a Battle League season at the same time.
So in that regard Bondo is right, IMHO. A month should be plenty time to play all the games that need playing.

hmm, you arent totally confused typhy.
just that it isnt your clans decision to play in this draft thing (if i'm correct). It's all up to individual players.

The clan tournement will use the real clans (from the current season's ladder).  Any clan that is currently on the ladder can enter the tournement and the finishing position on the ladder will be used to do the ranking.  It will be like the 1v1 in that it is a tournement.  On the other hand, it won't be double elimination but rather each round will be a best 2 of 3 CBs.

Yes, I plan on having another 1v1 as well since so many missed out on it.  Like the team one, I don't plan on doing double elimination but rather a best 2 of 3 here as well(these can all be played in a row and I would actually recommend that).  Rankings for this will be based on the first 1v1 and just guesswork.

The temporary season would be completely seperate from the tournements, first off, it won't be run by DAMN (or at least I don't think it will), if you were to take my strategy where all 10 clans played the other 9 then there wouldn't need to be a points system rather just rank by record and game score.  The clans for this test league would only be used for the test league and not for anything else.

    I think it would serve everyone well if we agreed on a common terminology for the test league. Since the intent of the experiment is to create an environment that is more akin to an organized sporting league, I suggest that we discard the term "clans" in favor of "teams". A name for the test league that emphasized the difference between it and the current BL would be agreeable, as well. Half in jest, I suggested calling it the International Rogue Spear League (IRSL). A better name than that would be nice, though.

well, if loth wants to i think that he and i should take the lead on this cuz we seem to be the driving force behind this venture, but i'll definatly take an administrative spot for this test run

ok, untill we can come up with a better name the new league will be the IRSL and teams(not clans) will be created based on how many people actually want to try this (i'm hoping for about 25-30 people)

this woud be an individual sign up thing and i would guess that it would be run during the 'off season' that the main bl will have while bondo runs his tournaments

once we get enough voulenteers(i'll start another thread) we'll decide how many teams ther will be, and who would be where. for the first season i think that people would be randomly placed, and if there was a second season, that is when there would be a draft.

it would be up to a team to decide their leadership structure, just so long as someone checks the forums every day.

i'm hoping that if this catches on it could eventually be handed off to DAMN as another additional battle league option

as always, tell me what you think here, we wont be doing for about a month so we still have a little time to get this hashed out.
