I think BFG is a bit out of line for blaming the US military what is really a problem with the civilian leadership, i.e. Bush. Not that you'd agree with the blaming of Bush GS. But the US military (and militaries in general) have done a lot of very good things for the world and for our country, more often without the use of guns than with them, though sometimes they do need to use them.

Like I said earlier, I might consider the military if they didn't discriminate based on sexuality and if I could at least think if I was going to have to think about killing, it would be for a cause I support.

True Bondo i was wrong to say the US military - it comes down to Bush and the Amdinistration who decided that they were going to deny these people their rights under the geneva convention - (yes they should be under the geneva convention) let alone quite simply their rights as human beings.
To lay the blame for that on the military is wrong - its the guys calling the shots who are to blame.
