Ace:

When i was speaking, i was talkin about the 911 sorry
I didn't confirm that.

And as for your dad's stock mustang beating any porsche off the line..ummmmmmm no....

The Mustang stock, and this is a 2000 GT model car
pumps put 260 horsepower and 302 lb.-ft. of torque from a  4.6L V-8. That sounds pretty impressive, but really it's not...0 to 100km/h (0-60) at like 6.3 - 6.5 secs

The porsche Boxster not the S (the lowest end porsche) goes 0 to 100 km/h (0-60) is an astonishing 5.9 seconds.
The 3.2-litre engine offers even higher levels of performance at 252 horsies at 304 lb- ft. of tourque.

Unless your dad had the SVT model, which would maybe beat it on a lucky day, i'm sorry to say u have no chance with a mustang. By the time the back wheels of that mustang stop spinning and actually grip the road, unless you have superstickies that you burned the hell out of before, the porsche is long gone.

I admit, if it was more then a quarter mile, a porsche would lose to almost anything sporting a V-8, except the mustang.

Ace, send a porsche to henessy and see who wins against the viper.

And a lot of cars will beat a Porsche off the line. Except for the turbo, my dad's Mustang will smoke any stock Porsche. And a Viper GTS sent to henessy will smoke the Porsche.

My dad has a 1999 SVT Cobra. 320 hp from the DOHC 4.6L V8. After the recall (there was a problem with the exhaust) it does 0-60 in 4.7-4.8 secs. That will beat any Porsche besides the Turbo off the line.

Fine, send the Porsche to henessy. I still am waiting for a european car that I can't find an equally priced American car to shitkick it off the line. We could always take a $70k viper and a $70k porsche and see who wins. European cars are overpriced, snobby pieces of shit. Nothing compares to the feeling of stomping down on the gas of an American V8 and having your head snap back as your ears are overcome by the power of the raw sound from the engine.

Why anyone would drive anything as slow as a car and then worry about performance is beyohnd me....

Seriously... I've owned a Mustang Cobra (when I worked for Ford).  If I were going to drive a performance car, I'd drive the one that still owns the world record for 0-100-0 (that's dead stop to 100 mph back to a dead stop).  That would be the old Shelby Cobra with the 427 super cobra jet engine.  And I even like the color...

But again, I'll take my motorcycle any day, which the dyno says can hit 200mph if I go on a diet.... heh (after a little creative sprocket work along with shaving 42 pounds off the bike, adding the racing exhaust and tweeking the fuel injection.  He even tried to talk me into the turbo they make for it, but I thought that was taking it too far.  I don't know if I could actually handle a bike with that much more power... visions of twisting my wrist and turning the last 3 seconds of my life into a daffy duck skit...)

Yea man, shelby's rule...I would love to own the GT 500

With all the Supra's that can be shot up to 800 - 900 horsies with NO NOS, you would still pick the mustang as your sports car?

Ace:
As for your dad's SVT cobra, that would kill any porsche but the turbo, your right. I thought your dad had the plain old GT...take that mustang into a corner..look out, hold on, and prepare for a crash.

A 70k viper? is it used? lol....You say that european cars are overpriced, maybe in the USA that is true, if you were to sell a viper oversea's don't you think that it would be as much, or probably more? It has much to do with the importing that makes the price jump, not cause they want to sell it for that much.

I admit that alot of American cars have alot going for them. They do have a rich background and yea, you can't get that American engine sound screamming from the back of the straightpipes anywhere else, and yes they probably have the best straight line car (Viper).
But man, so much more goes into a car then just the power. You take any American car into a corner and you better pray for a miracle, cause your crashing. European cars are just built better.

A little triva for all:
The fastest car 0-60 is the concept Chev Camero ZL1:
         574.2 kw / 770.0 bhp @ 6900 rpm =
                           0-60 2.7secs
Take that car into a corner and die.

The Shelby AC Cobra is NOT a Mustang..... thanks for playing.

It was a two seat race car that was built to beat the shit out of the corvette's of it's day... and it worked well....

here's a link on where to find Replica's of it.... but it has a nice picture...

I'm sorry dest, there aint nothing beating a mcleran F1. I've been behind the wheel of one when I went to England (my pops pulled strings to get me into the showcase room, let alone the testing track) and that puppy takes off.

BTW: Price tag on the mcleran import is well over 1.5 million US

Unfortunatly I am too lazy to read every post here, yet I still want to give you your bi-weekly taste of mort.

So with that said:

i've had my leaner's for two years.  took the test once, failed it.  Not on parallel parking, which i did fine on even in a minivan.  No, I went over the stopline on the last stop sign. *smacks himself for his stupidity*

It's all good though, because my best friend has power windows! (on his car that is)

The red jeep, simply stated, r0x0rz!

First off Dest, this Mustang handles and brakes like a dream too. The independent rear suspension is so choice, and the big ass brakes provide more than ample stopping power.

Yes, you can get a new Viper for 70k or so. (Unless the price jumped dramatically in the last year or two without me knowing) Prices may go up some from importing, but Porsche's are far more expensive anyways. I believe the Turbo costs 130k or so. (too lazy to check) Are you telling me that's all from import costs?

I'm sick and tired of the arrogant Euro "omg American cars can't do anything but go straight attitude" This ain't 19-fucking-65 no more. The Viper, Corvette, and Mustang and 3 damn nice American cars to start with, and they are far from the old single minded muscle car mold. They will kick your ass off the line, into the turn, and back around again. I would rather my money go under the hood than onto the hood ornament everyone recognizes.

And as for your Supra, why don't you just dye your hair blue, pierce your eyebrow, wear spandex, and go pick up guys.  Seriously, rice rockets are pansy cars for guys who aren't sure about their sexuality. I don't think anything with only 4 cylinders should ever be considered for racing.

Just when you thought I was done, I gotta pull out one more mini-rant. The 427 AC Cobra is the greatest car ever made. Hands down, no discussion. Unbelievable power that still will beat most cars today and the looks to die for. If I could ever drive a real one, I could die a happy man.

Ace,

I got the chance, just once to drive a real AC Cobra (I've driven a few replacars with the 302  and 351... just not the same).  Anyway, the only real shame of driving the REAL DEAL was I was too chicken shit to really open her up.... I mean, I have way too much respect for that classic that if I trashed it in a turn, I'd have to kill myself horribly just to feel better about it.  But, that said, it got up to 100mph about as fast as my best motorcycle... and that's saying something.  And it felt like it was just starting to go.

As for any Euro Car snobs out there.... Let us never forget Mr Shelby and those fine American autos he's still putting together..... I do believe that he has one of the few cars out today that breaks 200mph stock ( I think there are 4 or 5 total production cars in the world that can break 200 mph on radar, the speedo doesn't count at that speed.  By contrast, there are only 2 production motorcycles that do it either).

First off..Grift and everyone else....i was speakng of the Gt 500 MUSTANG..u know the car in gone in 60 seconds..vroom vroom..the grey one...Elenore? not the AC...

secondly supras are 24 valve 8 clyinders.

3rd..anything can beat a vette and a mustang...the viper is another story...

First off...i don't dye my hair any colour or have any piercings. and i love pussy just like every other dude out there..ask my g/f i like hers...lol

What u think importing costs are only a couple of thousands of dollars?? My friend just bought a mazda protege and the impoting cost to him was a couple of thousand...thankfully the dealer deals with most of it. On a porsche or any other thing imported I think it would be a little more then 2 grand.

Dude, i understand..shelby is a smart man...his cars beats lots of cars out there...i never said they didn't...look at the Saleen mustangs..same thing...they take a unstable car and make it into a road leech.

We could argue this all day and all night....we both have contrastuing opinions and we always come back with better points to top one another..frankly i am sick of reading this post, and not only that me and my buds debate about this all day....4 with americans 4 with european..whatever...half the time it depends on the driver anyway...

let's leave it at this..

Different designs..
Different ideas....
Different executions...
Different cars....
Different opnions...

problem solved.

as for grifts motorbikes...i think ace would agree when i say....get that little piece of shit away from my car before i run u over..

nah kiddin...bikers rule..and so do crotch rockets.

Ace good arguments!..that's what a forum is all about

And whoever drove the Mclaren...
Assassin i think..consider yourself a lucky bastard.

L8's

First, I'd like to say Comcast @Home SUCKS!!!

It's been two weeks since I've even been able to hit this site.

Now, I feel better.

Dest, GT500's are nice, but not as nice as the AC Cobra.  That is a truely one of the finest automoblies ever made.

As for import costs, it all depends on who you have import it.  I've had a bike shipped overseas for as little as $400.  My buddy had a BMW shipped from Germany for $500.  We set it up ourselves, not through a dealership.  It all depends on if you are willing to deal with the time it takes.

There are a bunch of good, fast cars out there from every country.... I'm not biased like that.  But they are fast for cars, not SPORTBIKES (I don't acknowledge the term "crotchrocket").  As for running a sportbike over.... only if I'm already laying on the road dead.... hehe

Maybe I'll ride it up there when the weather breaks Dest... I do head up that way a few times a year.  Danielle and I like to hang out in Toronto.

Dest,
You must like going in a strieght line, don't you??  The 'busa is fast (GSX1300-R) but it doesn't corner with the best of them.  It will hit 200mph without modding (well, it did, but they de-tuned them the past 3 years).  I ride a Suzuki GSX750-R and a Triumph TT600.  Much lighter bikes with better chassis for cornering.

As for racing, I race for real, on road courses.  I like to turn and pass on turns, that's the fun part.  Racing 1/4 mile is a bore to me (just my opinion, but I find that 1/4 mile is for mechanics, not drivers).

As for being chased by the cops.... cops here don't chase sport bikes that often.  They don't like being humbled like that.  The only times I've ever been pulled over, was when I was getting gas and didn't know they were following me (they were that far back).  But they still didn't give me a ticket.  Think about it.  You see a cop on the side of the road, parked with radar gun, and you go by at 100mph or so.... by the time he's hit 30mph, I'm doing over 160mph and climbing.  By the time he's hit 55mph, I'm doing 180mph (about 300kph, which is as fast as my bike can go).  Once I'm out of sight, I turn off (we split up if riding with others) and make a bunch of turns.  They never find you, and give up quickly.  Truth be told, I've never had to go more then 120mph on the street to get out of sight and make a turn.  180mph is reserved for the track, and really stupid days up north on flat, strieght back roads with nobody around).

The exception to this was when we were at the national races in Ohio last year.  They had speed traps set up with roadblocks there... caught 5 of the guys I was with, I was just lucky enough to be in the rear of the pack when we hit the area, because we were all going about 115 in a 45 zone.  (for those of you that don't do conversions, that is about 190kph in an 75kph zone).

But if 1/4 mile racing floats your boat, I know a guy here that makes Triumph Sprint Tripples with a turbo kit.  Fastest thing I've ever seen off the line.  Probably only costs $11000 USD brand spanking new with all the trimmings (seeing as my Triumph TT only cost me $8000 USD with a new helmet and a racing exhaust thrown in to boot).  Yes, Yes, I know that most of you can't spend $$ like that, but this is just for perspective, since I don't know what used 'busa's or Triumphs go for.  But if a new 'busa costs $12000 USD and a turbo'd Triumph Sprint costs $11000 USD, you do the math and figure which would be cheaper to get used if you know where to look.

Dude...yer nuts....going that fast with nothing on but a G-string!...jeez, if i was doing that on a bike i would be shitting so many bricks, that the cars windshield's behind me would be shattering....but u hafta admit..running from the cops is fun....i have a few stories about cop bolting too..

Do u guys use radios???..we use those motorola ones..the hand helds.

last summer, my buddy installed his turbo, so he wanted to see if he could finally beat me..so like usual we line up, and we are on like an express way, not quite a highway, u know what i mean?..anyway, we go and were neck and neck for a little, and i start pulling away from him, when out of no-where an undercover cruiser pulls out infront of  me and starts to ease on his brakes to slow me down, i didn't even see him...my buddy is still speeding up beside me, so i slammed on my brakes and i swear the car has never handled liek that one day, she loves me I guess, cause i sweavered right behind my bud, like inches..doing about 160 km/h..not really really fast, but fast...my slow witted freind finally noticed the cop, and gunned his prelude, we passed the cop..and the chase is on...i guess this guy was one of the "cops on a mission", cause the guy was drivin an Impala SS...i think it's an 89..the ones with the sleeper under the hood...so anyway..he's chasing us like a champion, down this freeway, and were doing about 180-200 km/h...and the impala is keepin up..how?, that car must have work done to it, who knows...thank god it can't turn, cause we lost him hitting a couple of corners after the off ramp..i kiss my 18's everyday...I guess we could of split up, but it didn't come to mind..stupid i know ,but, we lost him so no harm done....that's proably my best story...about cop running anyway.

Grift, if i could get my car on a REAL race track i would LOVE it.....I would rather have my car handle great and do better on a race course...then i could tune the car perfect, but 1/4 mile is all i got, so i gotta make the best of it....i know that u can pay to have yer car on the track for a couple of laps or so, but then if i were to do that, tune my suspension i would have to get myself sponsored and start shaving the car down some weight cause i probably would be addictted right away....like what probably happened to u.

We were thinking of orginizing an actual race, but like u said most of the cars i deal with, and my friends deal with, are straight liners....not that the cars could not handle the corners better then most, but everone is busy and everyone works a hectic job like me...i don't mean that to sound like and excuse, but stratight lining lasts maybe 10 seconds...Tongue...maybe one saturday in the near future, cause I would really like to make my car better, as in stabilizing it more....

actually i wouldn't mind feeling how the toyos stick...

anyhoo, like i was saying run from the cops...i know that bikes go like shit and cops don't have a chance...but the cops in Toronto got smart..(after about 2 years..lol) and show up with road blocks...that's y I was talkin about those 3 cars going through barbbed wire fence...too many roadblocks...

maybe we can set up a ramp for u or something....can u fly with that thing?

maybe i'll send the rx7 to Saleen and tell him to put the saleen suspension in it...lol ya right.

Bah, you guys don't know how to run from the cops. With a fast car, any moron can do it. But try doing it with a 1990 Mazda Protege (stock) You gotta rely on quick thinking, fast talking, a little guts/stupidity, and some luck.

So one night I'm going to water polo practice at the local junior college (our high school pool was shit) Basically there is one long road that curves around the campus, and the pool is near the back. So I'm doing 40 or whatever (20 mph speed limit i think ) as the road is about to curve. As I'm heading into the turn, the cop pulls around the turn in the opposite direction from behind the basketball courts where I couldn't see him. He throws on his lights, and I shit a brick. I have 3 tickets on my record, and a fourth means I lose my license. I don't know why, but I instinctively drop into second and gun it with all those four cylinders would give me. Luckily for me, the cop had to go out of the turn to find any room to flip a bitch. I'm talking to my Mazda and begging for her to make it down to the pool where he wouldn't see me. Thankfully I make it down there to see the cop fly by with lights blaring. I get out and go down to the deck to see that my team wasn't in the water (I was already late from a meeting) I check a couple places around the pool and couldn't find them, so I stupidly decide to drive back out. I get maybe 100 yards on the road when I see lights out of nowhere. Shit, he caught me. I had no choice (remember, shitty Mazda) so I pull over. He comes up to me and tells me that a car fitting my description was seen flying by a few minutes ago. I told him I had been down at the pool swimming for a while, the whole time praying he wouldn't notice that my hair was bone dry. I manage to stay calm (although I swear my hands were about to grip right through and break off the steering wheel) and the guy let me go. I drove the way home at the speed limit, something I don't think I had done since my drivers test.

There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
