What's your GameRanger history?

There was a topic much like this about a year ago. Now, with many new players, thanks to Ghost Recon; we've picked up lots of new members to this community.

Many of you guys are new to GameRanger, however, I'd like to here from some of the guys who are new to the R6/RS/GHR gaming commuity, but not to GameRanger - what were you doing before this?



I first started playing Rogue Spear  Demo on the mac side in June, 2001. From June until September, I was just your typical newbie. I'd join games, yell at the host "go go go", not realizing what an asshole I was being.

In September, 2001, I started a clan called |AK|, which is now known as |?K|. AK's current leaders, Rapid and Monk were recruited by me sometime during the first week. Right now, 3 of my origonal recruits remain with AK, I believe, those include Rapid, Monk, and Eric.

In early October, 2001, I bought Rogue Spear: Urban Ops. At this time, |AK| was a Rogue Spear Demo clan, and I honestly had no idea that they'd move on to Rogue Spear: Urban Ops, so I left the clan to Rapid.

Rapid, in a move to try and make the members of |AK| see that it was now his clan, changed the name to |?K|.

About two weeks later, |?K| became a Rogue Spear: Urban Ops clan. Rapid asked me if I'd be interested in rejoining the clan. I felt a little bit cheated, I'd given him my leadership spot for the good of the clan, and I felt that the right thing to do would've been to return the favor. However, I rejoined AK.

At this time, I had no idea what I was in for - no idea what kind of community lie infront of me.

In late December, 2001, the first *DAMN Battle League season that |?K| participated in begun. This season is now known as the "preseason". It lasted from December, 2001 until May, 2002.

Unlike modern Rogue Spear, there were no shortage of CBs this season. If you wanted to CB, you'd go to the Construct ( this was before all the RS players hung out in the Bar & Grill ), you'd scroll down the list, and you'd find a RS clan, then procede to challenge them to a CB.

|?K| ended up 26-8 or something, and the winners of the BL season. Second place went to TASK, and third to STFU. ( all three top clans were AK, or AK breakoffs, something that I, as head trainer, was very proud of. )

I took a month long vacation, over to Europe, from the 28th of May until the 28th of June. Upon my return, I found |?K| 0-1, with a single loss to KoS. I was hoping that I could turn things around, since I was the one who did most of the CBs. Unfortunantly, Evill sent me on a second vacation; this one a nice, long 6 monther over to the lovely beaches of "ban-land".

I was ban from GameRanger from early July ( the first or second ) to December 24th. As a christmas present to us, Evill unban all of us who'd been ban for a long time.

Throughout this period of time, I'd log onto AIM, and get people from GameRanger to give me IPs. It was a royal pain in the ass, but I managed to continue playing Rogue Spear. You wonder how I got all these posts? 6 months of being ban from GameRanger means that you have lots of free time - the time that would usually be spent chatting, or playing games.

During my vacation to "ban land", I'd try each day to sign into GameRanger, each day I'd be told "Account is currently suspended, suspension remaining: Indefinite". Until finally, on December 24th, when I tried to log in, I found myself unban! At first I wasn't sure wether or not he'd intended me, so I didn't use my real account, or my real name. The first thing I did was go to Viper ( only those of you who were there, or who are smart enough to pick up the clues know why ), and said "Ooohhh, guess who this is?"

For the 30 minutes before church ( christmas eve ), I just sat there talking to old friends from GameRanger who I hadn't seen in 6 months, or in many cases longer. It was a great feeling to be back.

That brings me up to 2003, and I think most of you know what's happened sense then.

I joined GR w/ R6, met Doug who was in POD at the time (Ult's bro), killed him a couple times, and the next thing I know some guy by the name of ~GaB~Ultimo was asking me to join his clan.

Unlike Typhy here I don't remember details down to how many games each clan won, but This may take awhile. I'll try to keep it brief.

So once apon a timelong long ago, there was a GR user who decided to creat a new name, and with it a less evil outlook. This GR user created what I like to call the Myst. I wont bore you ppl with more of those details seeing as Ive said them all 100 times so I'll cut to the day I joined my first clan.

Wandering through the heven and hell map of RSD I spotted soemthing of intrest. There was this clan, that just seemed to own. They called themselves |NS|. So natually I found my way into |NS|'s ranks, but it was a short lived dream. |NS| broke up with in a week of me joining. (They later reformed as |OS| and even later as |R|).

The next day while playing RSD's MET a player going by the name of Typhy seem to be doign quite well, I didn't bother trying to convince him to make a clan with me, cause back then, I plain sucked. "But hey. I'll get better, and when I do...MUHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA."

And soon this "MUHAHAHAHAHHAHA" moment came when Typhy formed a small clan called |AK| (Alaska.....the abreviation). Then it was soon turned into "Another Killer" when Rapid joined. Soon I atemped and suceeded in joining.

Later on Typhy, for some reasonor another left AK leaving Rapid to make the small RSD clan |AK| into a RS:UO clan |?K| ?gressive Killers. Up to this point I was pretty out of the way, quiet type of play. Until I realized (after seeing raps arguements), that I could do that. And that I did.

Later on after being appointed ?Ks first ?? Communications commander (Ran the private forums and inside stuff) I was left to make sure no CBs happened with out Rapid being around. One dark stormy night a few ?Ks decided to challenge SWAT with out rapid. Dispite my protest, it was die winning, or let ?K lose in a 2 vs 3. I chose to help the clan, and was eventually booted from ?K for my troubles.

Now here I am, on clan #46. Hoping it will be the clan that I will stay in. After becoming a Self procailmed Mac Sex Symbol, Best Clan whore ever, and more or less good at making lame jokes out fo nowhere, I decided No More.

It came to me as clear as anything, I am not gonna continue this flase little thing that I give a damn about anything on here besides, my clan winning, and me. I know it sounds all stupid and such, but why should I bother.

I don't know why I'm revealing my noble background on here, I guess I'm bored.
Just going to give a brief starting from the day when I downloaded a little app called GameRanger which I'd read about in an article on MGL (I think it was there I read it, they're now known as MG I believe). I'd seen it around for about a week before I actually downloaded it though, thus I didn't get a lower account number than 942.

The time when I started using GR I didn't use it for much more than to search for Action Quake 2 games, I always thought it was an awesome app for that. I was in a Swedish clan called [GT] and it was a mixed PC-Mac clan so we all met on IRC. I was in the clan for a year or so, always hanging out in the Action Room (as they called it back then in the first couple of versions, I still remember when Evill changed the room names to what they are now).

Ah my memory fails me, so long time ago, so much things happened but I think it went something like this, although I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of things. When [GT] was starting to fall apart I had been talking to a Swedish guy in a clan called [BMR] for a while and I asked him if I could join, and that's when I started my bmr career. At this time BMR was a Q3 clan with about 10 members, we all hung out in the bar & grill, it was our home for a long time (there were many times when there were only bmr guys in the room so it was more or less a bmr chat room).

When Unreal Tournament came out a lot of us started to play it and when Tactical Ops came out with it's first betas, most of us turned to that. It soon started to become more and more of a TO clan even though not all of us played it, just 6 of us I think. A time after this, one of our most precious members moved on to a 'real' ladder playing clan called {NwF}. About half a year after that I too joined {NwF} and since I had been an IRC user for a long time, felt right at home in the NwF channel. NwF was a really cool clan and I stayed with them for atleast a year, after that it collapsed from members being absent when we had clan wars and the game just getting old I guess. I had been in bmr for the whole time when I was playing for NwF (although I left bmr a couple of times, I was always allowed back in).

Next step was when all the Rogue Spear retards started to invade the Bar and soon it was half bmr and half retards in there. The amount of retards grew in size though and soon we were overwhelmed, no longer capable of holding the hordes at bay, so we fled... to the Construct, never to return. The clan was about to fall apart a couple of times but we always managed to pull together. It's been going on and on since then and right now bmr plays whatever it's members feel like at the time.

My GR is history is definatly not as illustrious as the posts above two or so years ago i started playing on 56k. i met a guy named happyjack who introduced me to the <Golo Hump Club> which turned into the .assHumpersassociation! then i went away for a year to italy, missed all the freakyness, got cable, started playing ghr, impersonated rapid, got banned, and now im bored.

back a uear and a half ago - 2 years (me thinks) the first day I got 56k was the same day I got R6 and THPS2 for free when I Installed THPS2 I noticed this folder "GameRanger Folder" I clicked on it and there i was owning in THPS for a coule of days then I noticed i could play R6 online too so I played that then I got UTD and I played that for a month with R6. I saw this clan named GETF and knew I must join them by then I got UT for free and I did a tryout with Granus and Navigator I owned them on CTF-Face later on I got RS I left GETF after everyone retired or got a life a few stayed Navi,Robo16 and his bro and Jouster out of 40+ members after liek 6-8 months I left GETF and joined UDt with beaver and jackal and the rest of the whores we had a lame site and the clan lasted for a couple of weeks at that time my comp crashed and lost my rs so i had to "aquire" a copy again through a certain Farmer. I decided i needed to join a rs clan I think the first one was *NADs Justinsane tried me out and it was like 6-3 i was let in I was in *nads for a week and a half I was kicked out becauce my brother called kilzo a noob while playing rs and he bitched to cookie and she told me "dont call people noobs" I said yea wont happen again it was my bro who called him a noob the next day my bro did tyhe same thing and kilzo (i think it was him) told cookie and i was kicked out later on I found out bronto being the faggot he is told cookie to kick me out. through the private GETF server which had 600 gigs of anything you wanted later went down. after that i asked Jeb every time I could to join (uNt I ended up joining with cringe. Mr. Pink soon left because hes a penis pump and joined nads. soon after a couple months. within my time at (uNt it was the best time I had on GameRanger I never would play reg rs games just c4 and other bswith Foxxo,Cringe,Jackal, and Happyjack, and the rest of the aHa! sluts and if i did play reg games it would be under a noob account tking rapid or the other fag clans of rs. Later Jeb killed (uNt and joined the Midgets clan MP along with a few (uNt's soon after I asked Voodoo if i could join *AgT* he said what clan were you in before and i said (uNt and I was let in soon after Cocksack left AgT and joined MP I left AgT after it went Ghr. I don't remember what happened after that now I'm sick of GameRanger and the fact that it has gone to shit since Ghr came to mac. If I do come back It will be for Rvs or not.. anyways Myst your a bigger clanwhore then Rabid.

I got GR as a beta when I was still a hotline whore that hung out on the popular server transient a lot (it was dema's server I think). The first things I played on GR were UT and Q3A. I had a couple lower accounts and then forgot about gaming for a while, not coming back until 2001 to start r6 & become an r6 whore (much later than most r6ers started). I continued to play it and never became immersed in the world of RS. Later I moved on to Medal of Honor and that became my main game for about the past year. Now I don't really play any games anymore, I just periodically show up on GR to chat w/old friends and post on here. Some r6 clans I was in include SBR, SEALs, r00t, Ti, FR, and for mohaa bs! & F_U.

Well I got RS in Febuary of 2002, I never bought R6 cause i beat it on PS, I saw GR and dl it. I thought it was sexy...got owned like a sex toy..then raped mainman and got into [GB].  Well i owned him in his dumb tests but then he said i really wasent in..that whore..i formed UDT and met Foxy.  Its funny cause I think its well known that foxy and I are pretty tight, raven says we are brothers. Well foxy used to hate me, lol, after I met happy and i was in aHa!...i used to say "mm foxy, let me rub your balls" and he would say "ewww faggot, die!" lmao!

Well I went solo and tried to make a name for myself.  I gained many friends in aHa!..then...Happy came to me about a clan he was getting involved in. Before I knew it FrEaK was born, i was wanna of the first 6 members...i think it was..happy, boxy, elias, me, ghosty and vel..but a day later game blake, foxy and more..Im probably wrong..but i was a first..

Feck, I'm bored now, so I might give this a shot.

Heh, it all started with finded GR on some Mac disc (I forget which), and then racking my brain for a nick. *Gawd, I can't even remember 5 years ago when I got this.......

 Ok ok here, I started with the name "theSmokingGun" I believe in late 1998, because the phrase "What is the smoking gun?", from the news, popped up in my head. From the beginning I used and abused R6(got for Christmas!) somewhat, thus running into some person from the SouthEast asia area (I think taiwan or phillipines) named "SniperWolf" and I played with him. We ended up starting a small clan called "Fox-Hound" in the love of Metal Gear Solid. And at that time I changed my name to "Gray Fox", the cyborg ninja from that game .

Umm, time passed on there while attending school, and um I got Rogue Spear for Mac the first day it arrived in my town. And this btw, was the last Mac I ever purchased from my town because I must have been the only Mac "gamer" in my town. I only had 56k at the time, so I played little. I remember joining {SAS}, along with Seraphim, Cossack, Jester, Black Death, and The General. But that didn't last too long before it gradually fell apart.

Then! One day I logged on GR, and went into a game room not knowing that these 2 people would change my life. This is where I met <GHC>happyJack and <GHC> Veleszka. I played with them and had a blast, and they introduced me to the awesome leetness of a "hump" and I laughed my ass off 'cause of it. I then became the 3rd <GHC> thanks to happy and loved it all.

Um, I continued school while enjoying the hump to its maximum extent with happyJack, Vel, and Ugi (now spike), and maybe others that I can't remember due to certain adolesent activities. Then happyJack dreamt up aHa! and I doubt he had any idea it would still be rockin' to this day, becoming a GR legend (both aHa! and happyJack himself). I remember meeting all sorts of new people such as Sgt.Elias and Blake, and um, tons of other people that still are friends today.

Then again! Duh duh duhhhh, I met another peep who changed my life, and this was while I was searching for another clan, one I remember trying out for was udt, and owning Beaver in the tryouts with the Enfield (the humpin' gun that happyJack used). Well I ran into some shmuck who kept roleplaying and humping my dead body in the B&G chat.... His name was The Jackal. I guess I didn't like him too much at first, and I even had this little roleplaying bit to chase him off... Haha.

Then Elias and happyJack started ?FrEaK? and I also met ShadowBox who was then elected leader of Freak. I also met Overthrow, H?llenHund, KrazyIvan, El Ronin, Smeagol, Snell, Delta, Flip and tons others because of Freak and happyJack. Well from the beginning to end, fun humping, and BS ensued for a long time before it eventually broke up from being to fuckin' big of a clan, but  left a lasting mark on the GR community for being the utmost BS clan, while having the most fun. We hit over 20 members! But anways, it was kinda downhill from that, because it was the coolest clan E-V-E-R. *By the way, I got my nickname from happyJack, so would abbreviate my name from GrayFox, to Foxy, thus turning it into my permanent nickname, but excluding additions to my name.) Also, somewhere around here, I started GhR, lol. I also got MoH somewhere around here too.

Then to make a long ass story short, I pimped it on here for a while longer, with jackal, OT, happyJack, Flip, serp, blake, spike, vel, elias, iGnome, and many other B&G chat whores.

Recently, I joined *NADS instead of starting a clan with my wubber (Sorry man), and kinda chat whored more than I played RS. And now I am here with a 3 month ban. Heh  .

Man i am an old fuck on Gameranger.  Well, by my id #5411 I am sure you can tell that I have been on Gameranger for a seriously long time.  I started up in Gamranger when Quake II came out for the Mac in the mid 90's when my id name was still sabre3000.   At that time I think Gamranger was called something else, but for the life of me I cannot fucking remember lol.  Another example of old age lol.  Anyway, i played Quake I and Quake II.  then I decided when i was decent enough at Quake II that I wanted to join a clan.  I went into WWIII (A newb clan), and F$A.  I did that until Quake II clans died out.   By this time R6 was in full swing.  Many new clans were going into that game but I just didnt like it enough to start, so I bypassed that game for clans  and just played for the hell of it.  RS finally came ut and I decided to start playing that because of the big differences that were done to the game since the first version.  God, what a serious improvement.  Anyway, the first clan i joined was ?K at the same time with 5150.  I played in that clan for about a month until the shit hit the fan and Rapid suspended Typhy, and another guy for not listening to orders.  At this time Seth (now known as Meth) and myself realised that this clan was going into a place that neither of us wanted to be so we both departed from ?K and 2 weeks later formed our own clan +STFU+.  We did this for about a year, then did the one fatal mistake that put our clan to ruin.  the clan was based off the fact that everyone was equal unlike ?K previously, but since we had a great crew at the time there were no problems really.  Then the fatal mistake happened when we let a whole slew of newbs into the clan to try and make a bigger more efficient clan.  Well, I am sure you all know what happened there.  Basicaly all the newbs started calling cb's and turned the clan to shit.  Almost the exact same thing that happened with SER in Ghost Recon.  Originally i wanted to name the clan +MOD+ instead of STFU but Meth was heartfelt on that name so we went with that.   But in the back of my mind I knew one day that +MOD+ would become a reality.  Well, January 5th we disbanded STFU for the last roundabout.  Many of the STFU members went to other clans like DR., NADS, [F].
     But on the 11th of January I released my new project that was at least 8 months in the works during the STFU time and that was +MOD+.  I tried to design the clan to prevent the problems we had with STFU in the past so that we would become a much more efficient clan in the running.  Many of the STFU guys stayed aboard the train, (Mikey G4, Aragorn, Covertsniper, Neo, Nomad, and Israeli.)  And we also hired in new guys to help with the clan like Blitz (who was Arschloch at the time), and BFG.  We even had some guys come in later from the clan, Styles, Citrusmidget, and Bassman.  Then after our test season in season 3 of Ghost Recon we recruited many other players from other clans as well.  [SER] Skillz, Kuba, Shadow [MaD]Sivak, Frodo, Mike [GB]Newfloh, |XS| Dragon, (Styles was also from |XS| at the time), |Line Aramarth, Vedder, {bLr} Xypher, dumbass, and many other that were not precviously affiliated with a clan.
     Some of the people above have gone and more have arrived since this change of clans happened but in the end most of us are still here and kicking.  In season 4 we came in 3rd place in the finals, and we plan on doing better next season.  Many changes of the style of clanning I had to change since then for one reason or another, but in the end we have a great group of guys within our establishment and we beat it out to finish in the top 5.  The clan has fluctuated from 3 to 34 members and back down to now 24.  We have come a long way and I can say that making +MOD+ was an achievement especially with all the diversity that was out there the seasons before during the making of the clan.  And i can say for a fact that I couldnt have done this alone.  Without the continuous dedication of the senior members of the clan this would never have happened.  Without BFG, MikeyG4, Sivak, Skillz, Israeli, Nomad, Blitz, and Serval we would not be the clan today without them.  I know that this post is not supposed to be about all this nonsense that I have written but I would like to thank the officers of my clan for keeping the mojo to stick it out.  Again, without their support +MOD+ would have never been the same, if not as successful.  
     I dont mention Sturm in the small fact that he really didnt contribute much to the clan except that he was our off player for the seasons previous in less then half the cb's.  And lying and betrayal never sits well with me.  All the other members that I listed that are no longer with us have all left the clan honerably except Mike and Slayer.  Honor must always be there.  No matter what you do.  If you lose honor then you lose a part of yourself that you can almost never recover.
     In the end I have been on GR longer then most of the guys online today.   Well, maybe not Hockeyguy from +-KOS-+.  He's been on here forever, other then that I have been here a fucking long time.  I have seen clans come and go, but in the end it's the heart of the warrior that makes a game and a clan great.  And as long as that heart is still there for the games, then the clan will never fade from glory.

Just thought I'd post my GameRanger history from either side of my Mac RS career.

I first started using GameRanger in 1999, on a Powercenter 150, with 96Megs of RAM. I was a Bolo player. I played Bolo for well over a year, from 1999 until late 2000, when I got my first perma ban from GameRanger. Even to this day, I have no idea what I did. I never talked. I'd host up my Bolo room, wait for a joiner, and start the game. No talking involved. As you know, I returned in June, 2001.

December 2002 until August 2003 has featured the most changes for me. In Febuary, I left AK after nearly 18 months. I grabbed my old AK teamate ( love you, Myst ) and started up -MP5-. At this point, there were about 30 days left in the BL. We started to do as many CBs as we could. I think we finished the season 18-4, which, while it may seem good, was rather disapointing to me.

I look back on that, and say "Ok, KoS is acceptable, Silvio's a hell of a player, KotA camped with C4 in the corners." Then I come to our other losses; Freak and FiRE, both very frusterating for me. Freak because we just played like shit, and FiRE because we let them do 6 games on Training Maze ( my worst map ).

Anyway, after about 4 months in -MP5-, it became clear that a 2 person clan just couldn't compete, and it wasn't as fun because we couldn't do 4v4s and shit. At this time, I launched ?cE with Silvio, JustinSane, Mysterio and Nighthawk, and that brings you up to today!

Sabby Dabby, GameRanger has always had that name, it was called GameRanger when I first downloaded in July of 1999 and got my present ID#942. What you might be thinking of is QuakeFinder which was another little lovely app made by Evill which worked similarly to Only Mortal which is about the same thing as GameRanger 'cept there's no hosting through it and there's no chat and I should probably close this sentence right about now and press Submit so I'll do just that.

Jackal told me to check out this thread last night, and that I should write mine. So I started, and was pluggin' away at it for at least 45 minutes. Jackal then said, "Hurry up and finish it before I pass out". Hahaha I think it took me close to 50 minutes to type that shit up at 12 in the morning.
