Perhaps the server really is down?
I was able to get into a game, and the first thing I heard was a lot of people complaining that the server's were down, and they were asking how long it would take them to fix it. (these are guys that have honor levels around 30, so I don't think honor is the problem)
Anyway, hopefully their working, i'm gonna go try now. Bye.

There seems to be a bug in the mac version that you will get the "Not able to Authorises" warning. This is a bug and a patch is begin worked on.
It should work if you just keep trying but it has something to do with longer loading times in the mac version and it then takes longer for the authorisation data to get throw and by the time it dose the authorisation server has already timed you out.

Never happened to me in the beta, and I never heard of it happening to anyone else.

I qualified for sniper after several frustrating sharpshooter 35s. I was so pissed, I never thot that it would let me get expert. Then I missed 4 early on during satnding and had to shoot 13 or fourteen in a row to get it. I'm glad I don't have to do that again, (Then I passed sniper school hehe- how funny--but i cant pass the second half of the airborne--I keep breakin my legs)

Something occurred to me tonight. After noticing that good AA players seem to have no trouble seeing enemies in what, to me, is undifferentiated darkness, I started to wonder if maybe it wasn't merely a difference in skill. After checking the screenshots in the americasarmy.com
Media section
, I'm pretty sure of it. The Mac version of AA is hopelessly dark--at least for me (GeForce2 MX). I cannot modify the brightness setting in the options (it always resets to 1) and changing the gamma doesn't help (washed-out undifferentiated darkness is no more helpful).
I think this accounts for the NVGs that make the game darker, as well as explaining why hiding in the shadows never keeps me safe--they're only shadows to me.
I'd like to hear if anybody with a good video card is playing a game that looks like the one in the screenshots, or if we're all stumbling around in the dark like idiots.
BTW, to pass the live drop test in Jump School, you've got to flare your parachute (hold the action button) to slow your fall. If you flare too early, your parachute will collapse. Start flaring at around two to three body lengths above the ground. It also helps if your view is pointed opposite your direction of travel, although I usually find that to be unnecessary.

Loth,
try changing your brightness value in the ArmyOps.ini file in Library/Apllication Support/Army Operations/System file to 170 or 180 and the gama value to 1.75. Do a before and after on HQ mission map on both assault (with NV and without) and defensew (no NV provided)-- big difference eh?

I read the first message, went and tried it, then came back to post that it didn't work and saw your correction. Heh. The 0.6 and 1.8 settings work beautifully. I'm going to do a test now. 1.8 gamma is outside the range that you can set with the slider, but when I touched the gamma slider, the screen darkened. I suspect that it's possible to set the gamma to 1.8 as long as you don't subsequently try to set it via the slider.
UPDATE: Yeah, it looks as though gamma settings higher than 1.5 are possible. I noticed a difference between the look of the game with the 1.48 that the game was at after I touched the slider and the 1.8 that it was set at via the .ini file just now.

Whoa, looks like I missed all of the action while I was gone. Nothing like downloading a 300MB file at 34Kbps on a Sunday. :\

So I copy paste the url into Safari, Netscape, and i.e..and get this message every time. great game...bah
Any ideas on how to fix this or should i just trash it and forget about it?

That's weird. Sounds like the web site itself was having trouble. Try again later. ::shrug::

Well, time to add my two cents. OK. I got a dual 867 DDR with 640 megs of RAM and a 32meg g-force card. I am getting about 11-17 fps within the game. terrible, but on a lighter note a way to counteract the crappy fps is to get a better mouse. I have just got a dual laser mouse and can now accurately shoot people. It's quite sweet actually.
Another part of the game is that the server will just shut down all the sudden and close the game without any type of notice. To counteract this problem i have found that you must restart you're comp. For some reason it does not kick ya from the game once ya do that.
The next upgrade I will have to do is get a better graphics card. Obviously the better card you have the better the game runs, so upgrading cards will be the next obvious step. Other then that the handling of the guns is quite realistic. The ony thing missing is the feel of the weapon and the weight heh. Good game but hopefully they can come out with an update and get rid of some of these small bugs.
Oh and to help those trying to qualify if they didnt know. to skip the demo shoots all ya have to do is step backwards out fo the firing range and it will put ya into qualification mode. So you guys dont have to waste you're time blowing off rounds that will undoubetly take concentration away from the real scenario at hand, which is to qualify expert.
