Typhy

Theres a thing called "honor level" in AA, everyone starts out with 10. Most official servers have 10 as a limit, so you cant join them if its below that. but there are servers with a higher limit.

You can raise your honor level by simply playing and not TKing.
(some one told me on the servers that you add 2 zeros after your current honor level and that how much you need to raise it, this might not be true though)

This might be a reason why you cant join some servers.. .

My honor is at 9 - could that be from shooting the sergant in basic training?

However, the message that I'm getting says something along the lines of: Failed Authorization The Authorization Server May Be Down, Please Try Again Later. . .

Ok, I don't even have the game operational yet, but this raises a question:  If your honor level drops to 9, how do you raise it back up again?

Me going into basic training:  Smiley

Me taking a few shots:  Cheesy

Me failing a couple times:  Sad

Me wanting to take out my anger on my drill instructor:  Angry

My self control takes over, and my sniper ability steps in:  Cool

My drill instructor's amazement that i'm a better shooter than he is:  Shocked

Me becoming an expert marksman, and passing the M24 and M82 tests:  Roll Eyes

Guys, work at it... took me about 6 tries to get expert.. but it'll come.

Also, the M24 and M82 tests are 10 times easier than the M16 test, plus they're a lot more fun.

Just keep playing the Mount Mc kenna site on a official army server, it will come...trust me i know  Wink Grin

Ps. it HAS to be a official server, the others dont record your game progress. Leased official servers might work too...

Well, I downloaded it yesterday and its really funny. I didnt have any problems with shooting the targets in training. then i joined a server with 26 people in it:

1. I couldnt choose the weapon i wanted, just support...

2. I couldnt see who is the enemy and who not

3. It got really laggy...

4. I stopped playing

5. It was BS

anybody his opinion to this?

Ps. Can I change graphics or just the monitor resolution?

i poked around  a bit, and i found some ways to pull a 15-20fps increase (makes it playible on my 466mhz G4)
i'll post a article on it on the mp website tomorrow when i get a chance. (there are a ton of hidden options for turning the graphic settings down, plus killing some audio channels).

i played this game last year on my buddys pc and i got hooked really fast...and this was shortly before ghr came to mac (or at least to mine). granted, the training session can be a bitch (especially getting 36/40 on the range and the para jump), but once you start getting into the missions its fun as hell. there are a lot of features that you would love in ghr (like taking weapons from dead people) and its a lot more realistic, imo.

You can choose a weapon, but if somone with a higher honor level chooses the same one, he will have the priority (the sniper rifles usually go quickly). If some of you are having difficulty with the sniping range or the para jump (or anything else for that matter) there is an online tutorial somewhere that explains exactly what you have to do, which isnt always as straight forward as it could be. For the sniper school for example, you have to aim a little to the top left of the target to get a hit. I hope my login for the pc version still works so i dont have to go through all that shit again. anyway, ill be back with my mac somtime in august, so until then you guys should practice so you can avoid the humiliation of getting owned by abe the way you do at ghost recon.

Tested it on 10.2.6 and 10.3 (Developers Release).  Worked fine on both.

Too bad I cannot play America's Army, my iMacDV 400mhz would burn a fuse if I even tried, and don't forget about that 8mb ATI video card!  To possibly answer your questions regarding the "Failed Authorization" I just read in the America's Army manual about how you have to "Authorize" your username, so that no one else will be able to use it.  Not sure though if that will help, I just skimmed through the manual.  Maybe post your problem in their Support Forum over at americasarmy.com.

Cheers,

?Ne?

P.S Maybe post your usernames here also, so other Mac players will recognize you.

everyone should just put ".mac" after their name. I did. I'm just Snipe.mac.

I'm having the Failed Authorization thing happen right now.. can't join any games.
But i'm still trying to figure out where you see your own honor.

Rebel, I'm starting to think that perhaps the message isn't bullshit. Yesterday afternoon, I was able to join any server ( I finally got my honor back up ). Now, today, same message. Perhaps the server really is down?

On a side note, I'd like to say that the release of AA was perhaps the worst planned out release in gaming history. The only place it was avalible was at the official site, where you'd have to pay for the download. After a couple minutes, the download link no longer worked. Many of us ended up using the bit torrent later in the day.
