While the RS community isn't exactly dead, it is on life support.  The RS ladder being taken down broadcasts a grim future for the game, and to think 2 seasons ago the rogue spear ladder thrived.  The strange thing is, while ghost recon has become what Rogue Spear once was,  a lot of people still think Rogue Spear is a better a game, people are just to lazy to boot to OS9.  I think that a carbon patch for the game would increase the number of games almost 4 fold, but i think in all likelyhood this is not going to happen.

Eh, unfortunantly, the next two games in the series ( Raven Shield and Ghost Recon ) both suck.

OK, when it comes to actual cpu knowledge I am, admittidly,  almost a complete noob, but what would it take to get this carbon lib patch to happen?  Is this an Apple thing or could someone we know create it?  I se server side maps all the time and was wondering if it was possible for this kind of thing to happen.  People always say they love the game but don't want out of OSX.  There has to be a way....

First off besides your opinion based comment, I would like to point out GhR is not a R6 Series game. It is a mere Tom Clancy game. Thats like callign the Sum of All Fears a R6 game.

And secondly give RvS a chance to grow on you before you throw it out, same with GhR. (No, GhR can't grow on me, not with the world suply of miracle grow--no offense to GhR players)

all i can say is anyone who thinks raven shield sucks is a bitch. grow up and realize that this is what RS:UO was meant to be like.

i have played it often and it is 10 times more challenging then RS ever was.

i look forward to it coming out on Mac.

People and their dreams.

RS will never be upgraded to run on OSX.  It's dead (for real).  MacSoft's license expired on publishing it, so it is back in Redstorm (now UbiSoft)'s hands.  They are not going to sink money into a three year old game that nobody will purchase.  They aren't going to let someone else have the source to do it either.

Give it up.  If you want to play a game that is out of date, you are stuck using an out of date OS.  OS X came out something like 3 months after RS.  If they were going to update it, they would have done it a long time ago.

Colin, disagreeing with someone's opinion, delcaring it wrong is another.

I've played a good ammount of RvS over on my PC. It's simply not fun. That's my opinion. You can disagree, but it's an opinion, not a fact.

I pesonally think that RS is by far the best game in the R6 series, but it has its problems. For example the glitches, and the graphices are not very good also, the PDW looks like shit. If they could make RS look like RVS and fix all the little problems im sure Rs wouldn't die for a long time.

Yeah, it's definitely looking outdated now, but it did come out years ago, so this is to be expected.

Except...that's not how it works.  Rogue Spear was completed about 4 years ago.  There's no more fixing or tweaking this far down the road (and why should there be?).  It's done.  No more updates.  Raven Shield and its successors will have to be the games that satisfy any unfulfilled expectations you had for Rogue Spear.

I haven't gotten to try Raven Shield yet, but I hope to soon.  I had very high expectations for it from the moment I became aware of its development, but I guess I'm going to have to invest in new hardware if I want to see for myself whether or not it lives up to them.  I was hoping that the gameplay would remain much the same as it was in Rogue Spear, with a bit of refining and polish to eliminate the problems that plagued the previous game (not to mention a serious overhaul in the graphics department).  I'm hearing mixed feelings about whether or not it is a worthy successor of Rogue Spear, but I'll have to hold off on my judgement until I can actually play the thing  =P

Oh yeah, and.... *crosses fingers for Mac release*

I think that what Maniac was trying to say, is that if someone were to create a game exactly like Rogue Spear, except with good graphics, OSX capabilities, and better mutliplayer optimization, it'd be extremely popular.

I had relativily high expectations too. I must say I was extremely disapointed. The new trend in UBI's games seems to be attemtped realism, and in the case of GHR, failure.

What the hell happened to 'fun'?! RvS, like GHR, sets itself up for campers ( as do most games where you can't prefire well ). Anyway, try out Raven Shield for a couple hours, and you will quite possibly see what I mean.  [/color]

With games as old as Rogue Spear and Rainbow Six, both lacking OS 10 support, and both having weak graphics, it's completly a matter of opinion. I perfer the Rogue Spear style of gameplay, however, I do enjoy R6. That's my opinion. Maniac likes Rogue Spear, SK likes R6.
