For any speaker gurus out there...

ok, heres my question....
I have a 200 watt sony reciever, I was tryin to run my acoutimas Bose from it, but my Bose are only 100 watt ea. I was getting some snap, crackle, pop from my speakers so I figured that a 200 watt reciever driving 100 watt speakers was too much power. I switched out my reciever to an old 100 watt one, now everything is fine...but heres the deal, if I want to run surround sound from my 200 reciever do all my speakers need to be 200 watts? If so, then why do they bother making 50 watt spreakers when there isnt even a 50 watt reciever, and I know with surround sound systems the rear speakers arent the same as the front or center channel.
I am just tryin to get my system to work at it's peak performance, I have a 200 watt reciever, 2 100 watt Bose, 2 50 watt JBL's and 2 80 watt Alpines anyone with any help or related links would be greatly appreciated. I really want this to work without having to get a new reciever or making crossovers...thanks guys.

Kilzo, the 200 watt rating is a total power rating. That means 200 watts divided by however many channels the system has. Therefore, it it has 4 channels (two front/two rear), each speaker would never get more than 50 watts. if you're getting snap, crackle, and pop then you migth want to dump the Rice Krispies out of your speakers, or check the connections and your trebble/bass settings.
