Today before i hosted i quit the finder, i'd estimate it went thru 12 games without crashing before i stoped hosting. Also i'm in 10.2.3, and i think you need tinkertool installed to quit the finder from the dock, but this may solve the crashing problem

Another way to stop the crashing problem in GhR while running OS X is to IP join a game instead of joining through gameranger. I have played on many a dedicated server without a crash.

yes, however this cures the problem with joining thru gameranger (from my experience)
My mistake, this is the application that adds a quit the finder thing
http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=11295&db=mac
after setting it up right clicking on the finder icon in the dock will show a quit finder button, oh and the program has other cool features.

How on earth can you quit the finder and still have running applications?

you can quit the finder while your running another app noob viper. Thats been going on for ever and ever. People usta make apps like that to give the game more memory back when computers sucked, but for some reason hosting ghost recon doesn't crash when you do that.

OK, I hosted a good twenty games tonight with the Finder killed. Crashes still happened, but they were somewhat less frequent. Normally, I have a crash at the end of every second game. With the Finder off, it was about every fourth or fifth game. Better, but it's not a silver bullet, at least for me. YMMV.

Do not join Games out of GR. Than crashes will stop!

I think someone mentioned this already Wink

I've hosted GHR in gr without it crashing before. Just as long as you're not hitting the mouse button right after the game ends it won't crash. There's some sort of error with the game ending and someone still trying to shoot afterwards.

Or, for you adverturous types, open applescript editor and type this in:
tell application "finder"
quit
end tell

Then save this as an application, and put a shortcut in the dock. then when you want to quit the finder, just click it and boom, its quit. Cheesy
