Xbox, for the simple fact that Xbox live kicks the crap out of other lutiplayer system hook ups and the games for online play are fun as hell. (Unreal Championship, Mech Assualt, and GhR)

gah! all this xbox and GC crap. Playstation minions, arise! Simply put, PS2 pwns xbox and GC combined, if for no other reason than the controller. I can't stand the xbox's because it's analog sticks are in oposite spots, and teh buttons just have a bad feel to them. The GC's controller is just too.. weird. The PS2's is weighted nicely, the analog sticks put out just enough resistance, and the buttons are in a logical pattern. It's a perfext evolution of the SNES controller that we all knew and loved.

if you want pure gaming goodness the GC is amazing. Capt. Anarchy you need to try a wavebird. this is gaming heaven.

plus somehow the games are just that much better. I do'nt care what you say. I've been playing Super Smash Bros Melee for a year and only got the last character a couple months ago and just a couple weeks ago I learned that Marth's combo is actually like 12 different moves. its amazing.

I figure why have a half PC/ half console? have console and a computer (read: Mac). between these two systems theres already more games then anyone should have time to play.

  I base everything on the games. I dont really know whats better, I own a XBox, GameCube and a PS2, and i love them all. But i did vote for the PS2, all based on the games.

i Have a ps2 and a gamecube,
the gamecube is a great gaming system (for the under 12 crowd like my little brother), although there are a few games i liked.
The PS2 is great, so many games that i love.

The Xbox is the bigest waste of money in a while. I wouldn't be suprised if MS cuts their losses and dumps the Xbox. Sales figures are like 30 million PS2s, 3-4Million gamecubes, and 2million Xboxes. I test games at MS every so often and they have closed one of the 2 buildings that they work on the xbox in. As far as good games on the Xbox i can think of... uh mb halo. Again i know that the Xbox owners are defensive about their system because of how much money they have wasted. Sure the graphics look pretty but that is no tradeoff when you want to play fun games.

That game for XBox, what's it's name.. umm.. splinter cell? Well that game looks pretty good as well and there are some other good games for Xbox so it's not a complete waste imo.

  'Splinter Sell' is a great game if you liked 'Metel gear Solid'. But if ur a true Football fan XBox has so many good Football games, to bad i hate Football

OK!!! Let's teach you wannabees some truth.
The Xbox is the best video game console you can buy.
Now, before you guys go wacky the NGC does have great graphics but the graphics are not all that count. The original post my brother asked was which system is the best and the answer is XBOX.
I do not like Microsfoft at all but this time they finally made something that I can stand behind.
Check this out:
I have Xbox. I have PS2. I had PS1 (two of them). I had Panasonic 3DO. I had Sega Saturn Online (before any other systems were online). I had Sega Dreamcast. I have GBA. I play on my Macs - I have all the latest games (except sports - hate sports games).
Check this out:
I have a 34" HDTV widescreen that I play my games on. I have a SONY Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound system, speakers and all, hooked up to my consoles.

What does this have to do with the best console system out there?

Here goes:
-The Xbox comes with a built in hard drive - PS2(coming soon) & NGC have no drive.
-The Xbox comes with an ethernet (high speed) connection - PS2 & NGC must buy seperately.
-The Xbox has the ability to download audio CD's to the hard drive and in some games you can play the CD tracks just copied as background music while playing -PS2 & NGC does not allow this.
-The Xbox plays games & movies in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound - PS2 claims to do this also but does not - NGC, truthfully, I don't know but if it can't play movies who cares.
-The Xbox Plays DVD movies (you have to buy the kit) - PS2 also plays DVD's right out of the box (but quality is lower, keeps freezing and skipping) - NGC cannot play any movies.
-The Xbox has HD (High Defenition) cabels available for HDTV- PS2 & NGC have these cables available BUT the PS2 cable limits you to 6ft while the NGC cables must be ordered from the Nintendo web site, they are not available in stores. Oh yeah the Xbox HD cables come with a 6ft wire that can be replaced with any length cable you want (well thought out).
-The Xbox has online gaming - PS2 & NGC also have online gaming but the Xbox online gaming is far superior. I had to go through a set up proceedure to hook up my PS2 online, it was not hard but I had to do it. On my Xbox, however, the unit connected it'self without any of my help. I was online instantly. Again, truthfully, for the NGC I don't know but once again who cares.
 
The only things going for the PS2 is the amount of video game titles available for it and the there is no controller out there that beats the PS2 Dual Shock. The only thing going for NGC is the size of the unit, small and compact.

All the points I have listed above are more than reason enough to prove the Xbox is CURRENTLY ('cause it can change) the best gaming console available today.
You get more power for your money overall and not in just the graphics.

I bought all these systems the day they came out available to the public and I can honestly say I have never wasted a penny - if YOU think I have, then your just a broke ass cheapskate and that would explain why you support the cheapest of the console systems. Ha!

Well, the reason for that the XBox can do all that is that it's basically a computer in a console shell. I'm not saying that that's bad or anything but like others have been saying as well, I just don't like the way microsoft can just barge into a business like that.

Ok, I'm gonna quote a letter a saw in a gaming magazine a couple years ago. it said something along the lines of:

"We all know that if we had the money we would buy one of each system, so we could play whatever we wanted."

Well yes and no, sure if you could afford it you'd buy them all. But if you had that much money, would you really sit inside and play games? I think not.

considering that MS is struggling for market share, and they are losing money on  the Xbox doesn't make it the best to own. Also you can find alot more used videogames out for PS2, just tonight i finaly bought GT3 for a wopping 9$.
One simple reason that the PS2 is better than the Xbox is: GTA:VC
Nothing i've seen on the Xbox is unique, splinter cell or whatever is on ps2 also. Oh and the Ps2 controller is perfect

Sigh, i love Grand Tourismo A-spec i forgot how to spell it but its my favorite.  Im gonna have to say ps2.  Most my friends have it and love it.  I just don't hear much of game cube or xbox without hearing a lot about playstation.  well w/e but i don't look into game systems much, i just play for fun.  I don't think OH NO! i ahev to do a lot of research about game systems to make sure i get the best one.  I usually just get the on with games that may not come out in the others.  I think all 3 of them have alright graphics and that is allt hat counts to me.
