Hey no problem anarchy. . .

I welcome comments and suggestions, especially if I'm critiquing someone else!

And the colors are kind of weird. . .the dark green of the buttons ranges from its intended color to black depending on the monitor.  And the highlighting is anything from carolina blue to purple.

Oh well....thanks for pointing it out.  I may try to fix it someday.

Your Photoshop site design is overcomplicated, and the HTML is clunky.
Yes, the HTML is quite *clunky* - What you saw was a export of the PhotoShop images. I am working on reslicing the PSD and once that is done the HTML will be all hand coded. I just couldn't justify writing the code for a demo...

Quote
And romulus, your site looks like a Microsoft template on LSD.  It loaded cumbersomely and has no functionality.  Great job!
The entire site is a imagemap fresh out of a photoshop 7 export  Shocked which isn't so great to our friends on 56k.

text editor for the 1337  Just because you can?t make it doesn?t mean you need to slam it.
It doesn't seem that any part of the source has been touched with your "1337" text editor. "<!-- ImageReady Slices (layout.psd) -->" which i'm sure the leetness came in with 5 body and page atributes had to be changed.
All points true Smiley This is just a demo, so it is just a simple PhotoShop export. Once I have sliced it, it will be hand coded.

Loudnotes - You use a graphical HTML editor? Wow... Weak! :p Try something like BBEdit or EditPlus (Depending on your OS). Dreamweaver causes too many problems with any HTML I have tried to edit using it, and it's handling of PHP just plain blows.

cutting through the bullshit, one post at a time

Wow.. Isn't that something? I talked to a professional web designer, and he thought it was a really great layout, and then this newb who can't make a site that looks halfass decent says that i's a Microsoft template. Wow.

This layout was made using Photoshop7 and 3D Studio Max5, and EditPlus - text editor for the 1337 Smiley Just because you can?t make it doesn?t mean you need to slam it.

Well, that professional web designer must blow, because either he lied to you or doesn't know jack shit about usibility guidelines.  Look at the resolution of that page.  Look at how the advertisement is the focal point.  Look at how big that file size will be.  It's a creative photoshop image, but lousey for a web site.  And I'm not a noob, I do this for a living.

Your leet code is bullshit too.  I looked at your site www.pchardwaremods.com, and that was not done using a text editor.  If it was, you were cutting and pasting from something that did use a wysiwyg editor.  The code is crappy, not clean at all.  Looks like something phpNuke or PostNuke puts out, that someone tried to mod the templates on.

One last thing.  If you are creating just html, Dreamweaver or Allure's Homesite are two of the better editors to put just the code in.  Those are standards for most real web work.  But must real web work is being done in JSP now (and the OSX development tools rock for this type of work, WebObjects is the shit).

you could mark code up all you want with explanations for what is happening in the code, or you can just do it your own way. I could give a shit about if i tab table cells when i make a site. As long as you know what is going on... thats all that matters
well after that little weed/booze enduced rampage i reacon i'm gonna get some shut eye Cool

Well put.  Comments and hand coding are great if you have hours of free time and you're an ?ber-perfectionist, but I'm not.

The only importance to clean code is fast load times, and if you use a 56k, you'll find the difference between a Dreamweaver page and a hand-coded one is neglible.  Besides, as long as I and all browsers understand exactly where each element of code is and what it does, who cares whether anyone else can?

Furthermore, much of the site is done by hand.  I let Dreamweaver figure out the table positioning and crap that I don't need to waste my time doing, and let it duplicate rollover scripts, etc, and then I adjusted things to my own standards.  Really, those who insist on doing everything by hand have too much misplaced pride.

Incidentally, I don't claim that my site is on the forefront of design, but I do note that it works --> delivering information quickly, easily, and attractively.  I had no use for PhP or next-generation web programming.

So that's why so many professional webmasters use Dreamweaver then huh?

Are you guys sure that's Romulus? Last time I checked he couldn't spell to save his life....

I like Dreamweaver and use it, well mostly because I don't know full html Wink, but I have experienced some problems with it, like for some reason it adds random /'s to the html or my jpg's and I have to take them out for them to load in IE.
