NCSU loses?
ND defeated at home?
Pitt over VT: The Repeat?

OKLAHOMA JUMPS AHEAD OF MIAMI IN POLLS? Oklahoma, Miami, Bowling Green, and who else in D1 is undefeated? Why on earth did all this whack stuff happen and why does Oklahoma jump over Miami off of a 20+ point win for the Hurricanes?

OU moves to first because they beat a damned good CU team.  Miami struggled against a damned bad Rutgers team.

Also, I'm crossing my fingers that Bowling Green loses soon to show the flukes that they are.

Ohio State is the other undefeated team.

Oklamhoma jumps ahead because it delivered an ass kicking to another ranked opponent while Miami struggled for three quarters against Rutgers. People see this and that is why Oklahoma gained more first place votes in both polls this week.

Also, Bowling Green aren't flukes, they just play a super easy schedule.

zaitsev, none of this matters because you are looking at last week's BCS. the BCS updated for Saturday's games will come out on Monday morning. Oklahoma moved ahead of Miami last week because the Hurricaines got a scare from the same Boston College team that upset Notre Dame on Saturday, and because Oklahoma's schedule owns Miami's. Likely this week Oklahoma will remain in the number one spot, and Ohio State will move closer to Miami (if they don't overtake them) after their quality win over Minnesota.

Sin, that is why I think they are a fluke...they haven't played anyone of significance.

As for Oklahoma giving an "asskicking" to a ranked oppenent...once again I ask, how is a 16 point victory and being outgained on offense an asskicking...would it not be sufficient to say they beat a ranked opponent solidly.  To call it an asskicking isn't giving CU credit for playing OU damned close...if not for a few too many turnovers it wouldn't have even been 16 points.  After this I think CU could very well beat OU in the Big 12 championship game.

I think its damn Hard to play many teams Tasty. teams like Oregon and others dont have records to show but Oklahoma has faced two maybe three very decent teams and they have won. BUT all this doesnt matter to me you guys will all get a snotty email from me in 2 or 3 years braggin about my Univ Virginia team check them out, 80% of them are Freshman on the roster we have youth at every position.

just bc you have youth doesn't mean that you will be good. on the contrary, iowa has already proved their worthiness (they are now 6th in the coaches poll) and the only people the lose from their starting lineup are brad banks (their qb) and cj jones (a wideout). we have a deep team though and a strong backup quarterback that will pick up the slack in addition to the rest of the fully-developed team next year.

I would like to ask anyone that has called Bowling Green a fluke or commented on the soft schedule if they have watched a minute of a Bowling Green game yet?

I don't care if the schedule is "soft" or not.  They could still be that good.  You don't know if you haven't watched them.

bondo, i would have bet some very good money that chad pennington's undefeated marshall team would have beaten anyone in the country that year.  i saw them play three games, and they were just flat out good, and had some good coaching at halftime.

this years bowling green is not as good as miami, oklahoma and ohio state.  but i'd put them against va tech, georgia, and even iowa.  living in mac country, i don't have to rely on biased coverage from espn to see them.  i get to watch them on tv.  and abc/espn are biased.  they love michinga, which is just good taste, but they are still biased.

schedules are set years in advance, and you do have to play in your conference.  so i don't like "strength of schedule" as a big stat.  it's who you lose to that shows more.  a team without a loss is still a team without a loss.  if they never meet, there is always the question.

Now there are reports the Miami will likely be placed THIRD on BCS which means if they all finish with convincing victories they could be cut out of the Rose Bowl like they were two years ago.

The Cavaliers come from behind often. A 6-3 record, losing to 2 ranked teams at the beginning of the season, and the fact that thier only GOOD senior is All American Billy MacMullen shows me that even if they were "proven" as Iowa is,  Proven doesnt mean anything in 2 or 3 years, having 16 out of 22 UNDER classmen start  and haveing a 6-3 record proves something, or at least to me.

zaitsev, you should say fiesta bowl if you think miami should be playing for the national champioship.

the fiesta bowl is for the title this year.
other bcs bowl games are the sugar, orange and rose.

which brings me back to tasty and why does he think iowa is heading for the rose bowl when it's a bcs bown and not big10 v pac10?

Deadeye, as long as the Rose Bowl isn't the national championsip game, it is Pac 10 vs Big 10. If either the Pac 10 champ, the Big 10 champ, or both are in the national championship, the runners-up in their respective conference goes. The BCS may have fucked up the Rose Bowl some, but it's still usually going to be how it was meant to be.

This year's bowl listing has the Rose Bowl as BCS Ace.  Not conference winners.  So I'm not sure what is going on.  The BCS has so many thing fucked up, in my opinion.

Here the bowl schedule that we looked at:

I think the Rose Bowl only pits the Pac-10 vs. Big-10 if there is a Pac-10 and Big-10 team to be had for it.  Basically, if the champion of either conference makes the Championship game (won't happen this year probably once OSU loses to U of M like they usually do), they are only replaced by another team from the same conference if that team happens to make the BCS bowls as a at large team.

It would be quite cheap if the Championship game was Pac-10 champ vs. Big-10 champ and then the second place teams in both conferences got into the Rose Bowl thus taking both at large bids over other programs that were more deserving.

But Bucc, as long as there are teams from the two conferences qualified for BCS bowls but not in the championship, then the Rose Bowl does use the normal matchup.

No matter how it's sliced, the BCS still smells like shit.  God, give us a playoff or go back to the old Bowls, where Conferences were matched up porperly.  Big 10 v Pac 10, MAC v WAC (yes, that's gone for good, I know).

Bah, I just hate the BCS.

Bucc, on the Rose Bowl homepage it says that it will be the Pac 10 and Big 10 champs. If one or both of those are in the national championship, a team is picked from a pool of the top 12 in the BCS. It would take major fuckups for the Pac 10 and the Big 10 to not have two teams in the BCS top 12.

Bondo, I don't think it's unfair if someone else doesn't get into the Rose Bowl over possibly a second place team in the Pac 10 or the Big 10. The Rose Bowl is our bowl game. It has been for longer than any of us here have been alive, and they shouldn't have fucked it up by joining the BCS and making it the national championship every 4 years. For the other three years, it damn well better be Pac 10/Big 10.
