I quit listening to music since some of the newer games have better sound.  You can tell direction and distance by listening well in games like SOF2 and MOH:AA.  Well, if you use a good pair of headphones.

i think that the adrenaline increase provided by music is more helpful than those sounds. when i play i like to listen to a lot of rap and some other stuff i dont normally listen to??here are some of my favs

outkast - bombs over baghdad
ludacris - get out the way
del tha funkee homosapien - if you must
ice cube- i push rhymes like weight

For games now since I bought this surround sound speaker set for my computer, I just listen to the game noises with the sound turned up a bit - it helps me track down my targets in both Ghost Recon and MOH:AA because I can approximate where the gun was being fired and close in on the area.

It is very useful to listen to the game sounds if you have the appropriate speakers/headset and I guarantee you that you will become a better player and own at more games if you learn how to listen effectively.

i usualy watch TV while i play RS, so usualy i'm distracted.
But when it comes time to pwn, i usualy listen to some life bootlegs (of trance) in itunes. I don't listen to my cds, cause i keep those in the car.

lmao... i'm having some dejavu here... anyways i listen to music sometimes while playing RS, but in mohaa it's all ears baby.  Snowy park, crouched behind a rock with a mauser, you hear the footsteps in the snow go from your left speaker to your right, get up and BAM!! right in the neck  Cheesy Cheesy

sometimes i get sucked into the music and forget about the game so i dont listen during cbs, which isnt often. RS doesnt have the best sound, but you can still listen for where the shots come from and if you have loud foorsteps on it helps too. but enough with the off topic.

strangly i own at medal of honor and i watch tv and play at the same time.
i've only been playing a week, but i've posted a few high scoring games, like 60-11 and one game where i won a first to 30 deathmatch by 17 kills (with 13 players in the game).
if you want to sit and camp while listening to the ambience, enjoy.

I am such a steryotypical Russian its funny. Anyhow I enjoy listining to three things.

I mostly enjoy Russian Partisan Music. It kind of inserts a patriotic fervor in me.

I also like to listen to Rammstein while I ramm an AK up someones ass.

Red Hot Chilie Peppers are also ok. Not so violent but I enjoy listining to them.

I usually watch tv and play rs at the same time too, maybe thats y i suck..
anyway, when if and when i  try to play seriously, i dont listen to any music and use headphones so i can hear if theres anyone moving behind/beside me.
headphones are also useful for hearing that subtle sound of a nade landing at ur feet, giving u a precious extra second to run around that corner Tongue
