Good movie season is starting again, Bondo reminded me of it with his post, now I am excited. What movies do you guys think will be the "stars" of 2002? Movies I am looking forward to include the new Michael Moore documentary "Bowling for Columbine" which a lot of you gun nuts should really see, since it is about America's fascination with firearms. I am also looking forward to the sequels (Lord of the Rings and harry potter), the new spike jonze film "Adaptation" looks fantastic, and the surefire blockbuster "gangs of new york" will likely be good as well. go to
http://www.apple.com/trailers
and see the trailers for these movies, and i guarantee you will be as excited as i am.

I too am looking forward to LotR and Harry Potter...probably will wait for DVD as they will both probably be long and I don't like seeing movies over 90 min in the theatre. Something about having unlimited DVD rentals for $20 a month and having a 100" projection TV that makes watching at home that much more enticing.
For movies that came out earlier this year, The Count of Monte Cristo is currently the best out of the 10 or so I've seen, Insomnia comes out this week and I'm excited about that since it is made by Christopher Nolan (Memento) and has solid actors. None of the other releases really thrill me from earlier, it was a real shitty first 3/4 of the year. I can't say I see that much great that I could already point to coming this fall outside of the two mentioned in the first paragraph. I'll also want to see the new Bond and Star Trek at some point but as far as high quality films like those on my list in the other thread, I see no films of that calibur at this point.
Bowling for Columbine does look good though, seems like it will point out the absurdity that gun ownership is. Another one that I think will be worthwhile is Comedian with Jerry Seinfeld.

I know I am going to get some critisisms for this, but I hear White Orleander is good, and it is not a chick flic. Then again I could be wrong.

Wombat and I are both hyped to see The Transporter with John Straham. That looks awesome... haven't seen it yet though.

Chick flicks aren't always bad for example, the movie Now and Again was good. Stupid action films like The Transporter on the other hand...I personally didn't put White Oleander on my list of movies to see and see little reason to. Basically for me I check IMDB's rating, the review on radiotiki.com, the review in my local paper, and then just think about the personal interest to me. If the sum of these convince me then I add it. I do highly suggest the radiotiki.com reviewer to those of you who tend to like more high brow movies as he sees many of them and is very strict about things.

It looks like Phone Booth will be pushed into next year thanks to the sniper in MD. Kind of like what happened last year with Big Trouble and Collateral Damage which both dealt with terrorism.

Yup, heard about it on the news too... and it doesn't really bother me either. What's so good about a guy that shoots people in phone boots?
