I asked Aspyr like 2 weeks ago (maybe longer) and they said they are looking  into a MoH:AA demo.

Which OS is the right question.

BTW, Virtual Memory is always on in OS X... the OS handles it differently then OS 9

Mysterio.... are you using a pirated version of the game ?

Because when I first sarted playing mohaa, I was trying it out on a pirated version, and it always crashed. Then I got the real game and it worked like a charm... Try buying the game.

I myself am not too sure if MOHAA would run smoothly enough on my 400 iMac DV, so a demo would be a suitable thing. It's funny how Aspyr forgot to mention a demo...

Exactly. I wanna know FOR SURE if MoH:AA will work on a (these are all in OS 9.1)
1) G4 450, 1 gig of memory.
2) G3 400 PowerBook, lotsa memory (I think like 512 er summat)
3) G3 333 Beige, also around 500 memory
4) G3 500, not sure about memory, but assume it's enough? Wink

First,
I know of a number of people running MOH:AA on iMac DV 400's.  They all said the framrates are down, but it's still acceptable.

Second,
from my own experience, MOH runs much better on OS X then it does in OS 9.

Third,
except for RS, why do you still run OS 9?

Fourt,
see the third point!

Fifth,
if it's not working in OS 9, it's probably your carbon lib files... try downloading the latest from Apple.

Sixth,
in OS 9, to make maps load faster and such, make sure you have extar ram allocated to the program (I give it 400megs).  And turn VM off if you don't need it.

Seventh,
just use OS X!!

Work, yes.  It will work on all of them.

But you might have shitty frame rates on 2, 3, and 4, because of old video cards (that woule be the biggest question.

To the best of my knowledge (with the disclaimer that I'm far from being an expert in this area), OS X will work fine on the G4 450. If I recall correctly, every G4 model is supposed to be OS X capable. OS X will run with varying degrees of success on pretty much any G3, ?I think. I've heard of people running it on some pretty outlandish models. A 7600, FFS? I would guess that the G3 500 will run X just fine, while the others will run it, but a bit sluggishly. Personally, I'd just install it on them and give it a look-see. It's not as though you can't get rid of X if it doesn't work on a computer. : )

Pooga, read my post right before Lothario's... I say it depends on the video card as to how well it will run on each machine.

Loth, OS X will run on any "G" series Mac.  I have it running on my wife's old iBook 366.  OS X was slower and clugier on G3's for a while... but the last two updates (10.1.4 and 10.1.5) made that gap close up a bit.  But OS X runs find on every machine I still run (have to go back to the old 603-e chips before it doesn't work).

I have the latest CarbonLib and OpenGL versions (1.6 and 1.2.1) for MacOS 9.x, if not MacOS 10.x. All I'm saying is I'd like a demo, just to try it out.

Regards,
-Beef.

Weyall, would an ATI Rage 128 with 16 megs of VRAM (yeah I know that was nerdy) be pretty much be on the border of a good 3D card?
the G4 450 has an ATI Radeon with 32 megs of VRAM. Would that run ok also?
