Well I bought the game today. I usually dont rant that much but Ive been reading some post from coco and cobra lately about their feelings on moving on (or I should clarify) modding GR. I dont believe Coco and Cobra have intentions of leaving UO and never doing another project. I know I dont at this time. I find myself feeling guilty of actually enjoying SOAF so much. Is that not strange? I played UO everyday and I mean EVERYDAY up until we started modding GR. I guess it became a stress relief for me. Ive been asked many times if I am a actual Warden, and although its nothing like what you see on tv most of the time, I am a Warden and like with every profession there is stress. I guess the game has become my stress relief, thats what I tell my wife anyway. Grin I played GR, no where near as much as UO, and actually started modding it with a friend with the intent of releasing a wep/map mod for it. Cobra and I started working on the WarSawPac Mod and coco worked on RDG. Then comes along GR. I read a post of Coco's recently where he stated he actually felt resentment (now that is not the actual word he used but you get the point) for those leaving UO and modding GR. I felt the same way and I understand his feeling because I can truly state that I felt like a "traitor" when I was assisting my friend with his mod. But I love to make weps and they look so good in GR  Grin. And I find the feeling getting worse because I just have played two missions of SOAF, just two, and I love it also. I guess my biggest fear is that the UO community will slowly fade away. I know thats a strong statement and coco stirred up a hornets nest saying something similar on another message board, or I should say that was how it was taken by a few readers. That is not our intent, I mean look at the die hard R6 on the zone.  When I first actually started with RS/UO, my son 15 at the time wouldnt touch RS, said it sold out R6. (I know that doesnt make any sense and we still argue that belief but that demonstrates the commitment he had to R6 and believe it or not he still plays it. Now theres a big bad monster coming called Raven-Shield, now dont get me wrong, I am excited about it and Ill buy it the first day it arrives, but what will it do to our community? Who knows. All I know is to date, IMO there still is not a mod that can touch the TAC Mod, in UO or GR, thats just my opinion. It is by far my favorite to date. Gr is a fun game, has great modding potential, but still doesnt do it for me like UO. I can honestly say one thing though, SOAF comes really close, and thats a strong statement coming from me after just two missions,  and by the time I beat this thing, it may be my favorite. I will keep you posted. Whatever we do, whatever direction we go, I just want to hold peoples intrest, as I know coco and cobra do. Keep supporting us guys and gals, it is much appreciated.

I hear what you're sayin WM. I like UO a lot too. I've spent a great deal of my time since it's come out on soley on that game. However I like GR more. I have to admit since it came out I haven't played UO more than a mere handfull of times. I don't know what it is but something about the game has me hooked. Personally I'm extremely pleased that you guys are modding for it. The IDF mod is going to be one of the greats for sure. ?Smiley

As for SUAF, I played it, I beat it and now haven't tried it since. I think my major beef is that the enemy AI is just too good and teammate ai so poor. I find myself reloading a saved game time after time just so I don't take an ai casualty. It was worth the $30 though and I'll definately play this SAS mod once it's out.

You didnt like Soaf? I cant believe that, Im having a blast playing it. I still prefer how the guys react in UO though and yes the tangos are much better. Im playing on the highest difficulty though.

I only have the demo of SOAF but I find myself playing it a lot because it's straight CQB. My favorite RS maps were city street large and the killhouse pretty much.

GR just doesn't have the adrenaline rush of RS, but some of it comes back with SOAF. I don't think the game will really blow up, partly because once the movie is old the game will seem dated, but I think it can be kept alive to some extent with mods. I do look forward to modding it. I am growing past the phase of trying to make blockbuster mods and grab thousands of downloads in a day, I think. That doesn't mean that the mods will be any less, they will always get better, but the community is splintered now so the days of the mad dash for downloads and having 3 mirrors up are over.. I think...

I agree coco but I think the IDF mod will surprise ya  Grin. One of the big problems for GR, I dont know this as fact its just a opinion from reading alot of post throughout the community, is that it takes a upgrade on alot of computers to be able to play it. For example, I just bought my wife a new puter, she will not allow me to buy the part online, in otherwords she always goes to the store and buys HP. She wants the warranty she says. Anyway, she got a 1.8 gz P4(or whatever it is, ya know the speed or whatever its called) 512 ram, 80 GB hd, and some POS generic video card. I load GR on it, it runs fine but looks like shit.
I run a P111 550, 384 ram, 20 GB hd and a GF$ video card. It blows her away, Im not talking about the top of the line GF4 either, its the $150 card. I wouldnt have her new puter, unless I could put my vid card in it  Grin.
Im not sure whats gonna happen, will be interesting. I think coco is correct though, it is splintering, I dont believe the following of GR is any where near what UO was, we just lost about half maybe to GR and OFP. Maybe not half, but alot

I see what yer sayin Coco and Mac . Used to be R6 , R6/EW , RS , RS/UO . Now you got added to that CO , BT , OF ( Operation Flashpoint) , GR , GR/DS , SOAF , and the upcoming Raven Shield . Some peeps have all of them , most of us don't , so it is hard to grab peeps attention with a mod for just one of these games . While some look foward to a UO mod ( like me , i want Warsaw Pact mod, i want Warsaw Pact mod ) some have abandoned ship for good . While Raven Shield looms , we will have to wait and see if it slits RS/UO's throat ( might be Drew's game that puts the last nail in the coffin ). All i know is that no matter what i will still be playin UO ( cause i dig it , and my comp sucks so i got no choice anyway , lotto is up to 68 million though so ya never know ) and i look foward to the CMB , TOTT3 , and the Warsaw Pact mod .

There will still be some die hard fans out there. I will be one of them, Like coco, I always prefered Citystreet map over all of them, actually Citystreet2 is my alltime favorite.

WarSawPac is still on the backburner along with some other projects ahead of it. Time will tell

Hehe ,

If you can afford em and ya got a rig that can play em , cool . Besides a library , games probably provide the most entertainment for the dollar .

Well I must say I like SOAF more and more. IT has a really good old R6 combined with UO feel to it. I will probably find I like it alot more once I complete the missions and can play them in firefight. I always liked tangohunt the most, if ya dont count playing on the zone. Since I got sattelite connection, I cant play online so I really miss that but I really like the game. I highly recommend it. It would be a blast in MP. Keep ya posted
