ok, this was supposed to be post 4 in my master plan, but rapid screwed up the order, but it's all good now.
This thread is mainly for you RS gods out there (you know who you are).
I?m asking how did you get so good at the game?
Is it teamwork, a good connection, good at dealing with lag, good at dancing, good luck, or just raw skill?
If you can tell us a little trick or two that would help us play better, please do so
In addition, if it's not too much to ask could you please point out some of the noob mistakes that we make, so we can work on those?

Good dancing is a key, another thing is reflex, as soon as I see a guy, within a second I have my reticule on his head and are firing. Being good under laggy conditions is also key. And when you're an IP joiner from Juneau Alaska, you learn to play with lag, also, you've gotta know what all you're carying and use them propperly. It used to be, I would rush someoen and die, And I would say to myself, had I throw a gernade, I could've had him easily. With more experience, I've learned to do that. 6 months ago, I would be really happy with a 6 kill game, I would be like "Oh yeah!!" now all that I say is "Good game". Personaly, I think that reflex might be the most inportant thing.

nah, it is all about using a l33t 333iMac and a 56k modem (my original hookup)...the plan is to get a DSL modem and continue your dominancy. As for Brain, only a 5 kill? pffft.

Well, can't help out about RS but for R6 the way to be good is to combine natural talent, a good computer and connection, and endless hours playing against SiX members...worked for me.

To be good at this game, you have to play a lot of this game.
I have good/hand eye coordination and catch on quickly to any game. I think it really pays off if you have good hand/eye coordination. In the games, it is unpredictable what your opponent will do, so you go by the guess game. You think of all the times you were playing on their side of the coin (If you were blue, think about when you were gold and viceversa) and the spots you liked from that color. Then most likely, your opponent is hanging out at one of those spots and BOOM, you can surprise them. You see, this is a game of outsmarting and good shooting. It pays to first be able to hit targets far as well as close in an extremely effective way. Once you have that, you can learn to out think your opponent. With all that said, you can see why it takes a long time to become good at the game, being that there are SOOOO many maps. Good luck and Good shooting!

Dest, if you are good, when they go right, you go right and kill them. Stupid RS and its non-confrotationalism.

I try to think ahead. If the game's been going for a minute or so, then the enemies can be in a greater range of places than they could if the game was only ten seconds old.
I try to cover my teammates' backs. If there's someone sniping around a corner, I'll go the other way to try to keep them safe so they can work. If they're charging across an expanse of open ground, I'll stay behind and cover them. BTW, when you run past a sniper, such as heading out of the warehouse in Storage Depot, don't stay in their line of fire. Sidestep a little. They can cover you if you're out of the way, you know.
After you die, always watch the best people on your team play. Watch their technique. When they do something you wouldn't have thought of, learn from it.
If you die without seeing who killed you, try to figure out where they were standing or hiding. Next time, you'll know that there may be someone there.
Don't be predictable. If you use a strategy that works really well, don't use it again immediately. If the other team is skilled, they will be defending against that trick. A game or two down the road, after having some other tactics thrown at them, they'll be lax with regards to the first tactic. Then that one is eligible again.
Play around with guns until you find one that you feel good with, and then practice like hell with that one. You should know instinctively exactly how that gun behaves under all conditions. Then you can make instantaneous decisions about whether to duck for cover or not, depending on whether you're likely to hit, or whether the reticule will be too slow, etc.
Use a light touch with full auto. More than a few rounds from most guns and your accuracy is shot to shit. Little tiny bursts will serve much better.
I heartily recommend using single shot. This doesn't apply to the PDW and the MP5/A5, since they're accurate even on full auto. For larger guns, such as the Aug and M4, however, single shot is a boon. It forces you to aim very well, so it emphasizes skill. You will get better. More to the point, you will conserve ammo. On rock 'n' roll, you waste fifteen or twenty bullets killing one person. As everyone knows, reloading = death. On single shot, a kill takes one to three bullets. You can get four or five kills without needing to reload. Not to mention you look badass using a G3A3 on single shot.
I always switch over to rock 'n' roll before running into a close combat situation. When you're dancing three feet away, throwing fifteen or twenty rounds is fine.
And remember, grenade blasts don't go around walls. Always be aware of where the nearest cover is, and when you see or hear (headphones help a lot in RS) a nade hit near you, get to the nearest cover. After it goes off, I usually charge since the thrower is generally standing there like a doofus with a grenade in his hand, or is still pulling out their gun, and you can perforate him mercilessly.

Getting better is easy as playing a lot. I have been playing R6/RS for 3 years and i can compete with the best of the best (some better then others =). But if you are looking for a quick fix (2 weeks getting better) try using guns that normally sucks. I started to use the skorp a while back joking around but it helped me a lot because it made me appreciate (spelling) the PDW and once you start using the skorp for a while you get use to the 20 rounds and fast fire. then go back to a PDW which has 30 rounds and it feels like cake. I have now moved on from that and started using pistol only (skorp when endangered). Now even the skorp is cake and i feel spoiled using it. Just imagine me with a PDW, scary.
