i also tried it on my companys G4 here and its unbelieveable: it lags and slows around same as on my mac at home!

come on RS isnt that bad... well maybe it is... I tried to play on GR and it was laggy .. but then i also realized that most of the RS games are pinged over 100 so that sucks first off and i havent found a game that has a ping under 100... but i play RS on a LAN game... that kicks ass cause theres little to no lag:o... try getting a LAN Game started and it will change your minds as far as for GR well that sucks anyway... to many 56kers playing RS anyways....>:(boo to them.. get cable!!

On the one hand the game is really annoying especially if you compare framerates to other games, e.g. I can run Unreal Tournament with 800*600 and high details 16 bit without problems and hardly no slowdowns. That 's really great. I could also run it on 1024*768 but than my poor iMac screen has only 60Hz and that is bad for my eyes. But on the other hand it is still are great game. The single player, coop, mutliplayer boundkeys and so on..... I really like it especially the many 3rd party maps weapon mods and more....  It makes huge fun! After playing RS two month I really wanted to give it up but then I did the following setup: all graphic detail off except the sky, textures to low and of course 640*480 but the most important thing to play RS acceptable is the RAM. Since I gave RS over 250MB RAM it runs and runs and runs. Only mods using many polys like Nishi's NMM mod or the DTD skins can cause sometimes out of memory crashes. I know not everyone of you has additional 265MB RAM in his system but go out and get it. In Austria 256 MB 133 RAM only cost 80 US Dollars at the moment  

Give it a try and discover great fun - MacSoft that doesn't mean you don't have to release a patch. I would put Vampire on hold and release the patch and not finishing Vampire and than work on the patch. Don't forget the customer should be the king.

macsoft - i also wonder where damn multiplayer for baldurs gate (mac) is.

i hate it when i read on the package of a game: multiplayer available via ... and then there is exactly nothing. usualy i "let pay" company who trick me that gay in warezing their next game.

I gave my RS 250MB ram but it does not run!  
Only me runs awy when staring and playing becouse getting killed of a lagg Tango comin up to me  

RS is a great game but not on MAC ( really bad portation ) ON PC IT RUNS MORE FAST THEN ON A MAC and even on an old PC (K6-2 450 comparable to a celleron 350 - 400 )

Yes I agree on the PC it runs thousand times better than on a mac. My friend David plays it on a Celeron 300 with a TNT 1 16MB Video RAM very well. The framerate is almost twice as high as mine  
And when I hear that Veritable run the OldTrain map(this map is the worst running map of all) with 35 frames on the sides and 18 frames in the middle with lots of tangos I can only laugh. I have tested this map with 20 tangos on a G4 MP 500 Mhz with a Radeon and the framerate was around 1 frame/sec. Awful grrrrrr. One of the coolest games crappy ported. Thanks MacSoft

Wow I must be bored....I'm reading the RS section of the forum when I don't even have the game.  But you can put me into the club too  

I had thought hard about getting the game but after downloading the demo (blech!  it has all the lag, small figures, bad sounds, etc. you talked about) I have decided not to buy the full version.  Multiplayer is a little better but not much.  I'm sticking to R6...I guess I'm member number 3

I'm going to have to agree with you guys on this one...
I have been playing RS for a while, and I really have to ask myself, why? lol It fuckin sucks on my computer of which is not to shabby, with cable conn. I have yet to see it on a PC, but who fuckin cares about that. The game sounds like shit, lags like shit, looks like shit, and drives me fuckin mad I tell you. So chalk one up for ol' Skip I'm in... Maybe someone could tell me why so many people are playing this shit, the game even out numbers quake 3 and unreal every day on GR not to mention the 2 or 3 R6 games. wtf, Imagine how many  freaking R6 games there could be if these arsehole's never put the game out (I only wish). I am forced to play the fucking game sometimes because there is never enough R6 games or none at all. oh well enough of my whinning..boycott the fucking thing....lol

I have a G3 300 with 192 megs of RAM and a first generation Rage 128. I can run RS so smoothly w/o VM that I have no complaints about it.. except that there is no sound. I'll have to buy more RAM for that..

Playing w/o sound is quite hard as you have no alerts to if somebody is firing at you until you see bullets hitting the wall around you.. or hitting you. You can't hear your teammates die or them firing either... I can't wait for more RAM..

Why aren't you using Virtual Memory?  And why isnt' 192 megs of ram enough?  What do you have RS set to consume all of that?

And, sigh....I think I will probably end up getting rogue spear anyway because there are so many mods out for it....that way I could review some of 'em.

Maybe I should get it for my PC....it's a little clunky, but if it runs so much better on PCs then hey, why not?

Virtual Memory crashes RS in addition to slowing it down majorly.

If I set RS's memory requirements down to a reasonable level.. it quits to the Finder when the action gets hot because it thinks it doesn't have enough free memory..

I have 390 MB Ram and it still does not run smooth with sound Wrath, and i have the same machine as u have!
But don't worry be happy  

Ill try it out w/o sound may be it helps te get more smooth! nice idea Wrath! and lol for pairing me and Stevie in 1vs 1 i should have though about this! that woul dbe fun it doesnt matter who of us will lose.

MACSOFT: U Bastards! On the package of my original bought (mac software prices are the HELL!!!) was FAT written (half an year ago): Playable in multiplayer via Gameranger!!! I dont even buy NON multiplayer games. so this was a 100% betray cuz - i had to wait half an year or longer to get that MP option via GR and what the fuck!!!??? U damn bitches just try to promote Baldurs Gate 2+3 among the mac-scene. Therefore u released such a "wrack" patch that i cant even describe! It just doesnt work! Its sux. Its 100% mac soft dumbassness!

I dont say i will warez from now. But i will think about "buying" a bitchy macsoft game from hard earned money more than twice in future.
