RvS, is a great game. A little buggy tho, for example how u sometimes start out with no gun. Also yesterday i was stuck on grenades and i couldnt take my gun out, nor could i throw nades. This happened to me at least 3 times yesterday. Another thing i dont like about RvS, is how unreal it is. Oh, i think i forgot that getting shot in the finger makes ur leg bleed. If u get shot in the finger, for some reason u can barely walk, and u have to drag your legs.

SAR - tha Granada bug is well known - it only come when u lag - this is a netcode problem, never got really corrected - It is know from the DEMO, and wes never corrected.

But I did not have it for ages now, after I got my new fast 2 Mbit.

But I am sure, when I try crosscontinantal games this fine bug will come back to me, too.

Also knows issui LADDER BUG - u get stuck on the ladder and u cant move.

but when such things hapen try this:

open console:
type:  suicide

--> bad effect: u die
--> good effect: no other gets the kill

I wouldn't be so sure that I'd wanna take a chance of say being stuck without being able to fire or move or all that mess in a CB, suicide there makes no difference who kills  you, this needs to be fixed.

Is or has there been any mention of a patch in the works from Aspyr?... Ive heard that Halo has a patch on the way but apart from the mulitpalyer issues with Halo it seems like RvS is in a far greater need of one!

The nadebug wount be fixed by Aspyr - b/c it never has been fixed by Ubi, in 5 Patches and one year of use.

This is a netcode issiu.

and if such a thing happen you can still restart the round - so the kills and suicides dont count. It must be done while the round is still going, by the server admin.

THE NADE BUG WILL BE NEVER PATCHED - I already gave up the hope.
Maybe with the Add ON Athena Sword this thing will fixed. But until AS comes to us annother year will pass.

I think RvS could be a good game, but I have no idea what it really plays like when it's running well. My iMac runs AA smoother, so I prefer it over RvS. I can only imagine what fun it would be to play RvS on a G5, but until I sell my soul to get one, I'm stuck trying to play it on a 17" 800Mhz iMac G4. Maybe I'll sell my body on the street corner to try and afford a G5. As far as I'm concerned, RvS has met the expectations of only people who can acctaully play the game, (not to mention get a decent frame rate.)

Aah, is Ravenshield a good game?

I will list the pro's and con's of the game that I see

Pro:
1.  Built on Unreal Tournament 2003 engine
2.  Awesome choice of weapons and kits, no real limitations on kits like good ole Ghost Recon.
3.  Stunning graphics and special effects.
4.  Sound quality is superb with the surround sound
5.  Ability to add peripherals to the guns of choice.
6.  the ability to add mods by converting them from PC to Mac
7.  No bullshit HBS like in good ole RS where the map was the main way of using it whici I believe most of us considered totally unreal in comparison to the new way that RvS uses.
8.  Ability to ban a tker from rounds
9.  Can start a Game within Gameranger for mainly Mac users.
10.  Can add maps and mods to the game unlike AA which is all determined by the people at AA.

Cons:
1.  No Punkbuster for anti-client cheats
2.  Game engine Very laggy on slower machines, graphics are in some senses too intense, but that could also be a good thing Wink
3.  Fps not the best in comparison with other UT style games
4.  AI in coop waay too smart for their own good on elite.
5.  slight ping issues, again, especially with slower machines.
6.  Expensive $50.00 US.  Damn pricey these days for a decent game
7.  Still kinda based on ole RS tactics with not much teamwork and more based on lone skill and computer speed overall.

Now I will list the pros and cons of AA (Americas ARMY) since that is being used as a comparison by most people.

pros:
1.  Honor point system is a good way to help control specific players from being able to enter certain games cause they suck.
2.  Based on UT2003 engine, great first person shooter engine.
3.  PunkBuster!  yeah!
4.  Team Based oriented game.
5.  New addition of small kit changes.
6.  Basic training, very kewl in understanding how military works, basically same in every country.
7.  Much more stable with lower end computers compared to Rvs
8.  FPS much higher then RvS for Mac specifically.
9.  Weapon exchange from dead enemies, very kewl addition to the game
10.  Medics = Sweet addon, plus much more realistic to an actual combat situation, although it makes more sense to have Medics in AA then in RvS, although it would be nice for RvS as well
11.  More realistic weapon views.  No crazy ass sights with unreal scoping abilities.
12.  Point system based on actual seriousness based on tking.  Over 500 will let ya share a cell with Ben Dover in Levanworth.
13.  being actually based on squad team tactics and not on lone wolf play style
14.  being able to check stats on ure character online to see how far to reach next honor level and to change specifics is pretty kewl.
15.  Being able to share the game with both PC and Mac.  Although that could be a bad thing as well.
16.  Ability to come out with updates to add more stuff to the game unlike Rvs which only has mods.
17. Free download!!!!!!  The only thing you sell with it is a little of ure soul hehe
18.  Great sound possibilities with AA.  Full realistic 3D sounds.
19.  Ability to have peripherals to weapons of choice but not as good as a selection as RvS.

Cons:
1.  not much as for weapons other then ARMY issue when at start of game
2.  Even with Punkbuster there is still cheats that people use all the time, example, grenade cheat and weapon recoil cheat.  In essense the weapon recoil cheat isnt really considered a cheat but I think so cause it takes the realism away from the game.
3.  Even teams mod by punkbuster dosent activate fast enough, so sometimes teams are seriously uneven until finally being tested by the Punkbuster system.  Sometimes that can take a serious amount of time.
4.  PC clans have seriously overrun many sites making it almost impossible to get honor from those particular servers cause they all have perfected the game to a tee.
5.  Not being able to start a room in gameranger unlike Rvs.
6.  Being used as recruiting tool for the US ARMY although that could be a good thing as well.  I just havent figured that part out quite yet.
7.  Cannot add Mod packs like Rvs.
8.  No real single player unlike Rvs

In the end I believe that AA is still a better format for gaming then Rvs.  But I think we should all remember that AA in actuality came out after Rvs was first out on the PC.  So within that time it was allowed to add things that Rvs just didnt have because it was out in the market later then Rvs.  And since Rvs was made first on the PC, for the Mac user to fully get the experience of the RVS engine we had to get Rvs setup with the older technology to match the PC version.  Otherwise if we were to add those things that AA had that the original Rvs didnt have it wouldnt be in essense the same game.
RavenShield is a great game, but I believe that AA beats it mainly because of the more steady engine it plays on and the fact of the actual game-addons within the playing of a round that were added that Rvs, in a sense cannot compete with.

BFG -

As i said, "r4 4 ever" i mean.. raven shield forever. (better than AA at least) so dont be suprised  Wink

And 40 meters away isnt that suprising. I mean with a slug they could nail you down. But the LA80's smooth recoil is completly fake. And other note, isnt it gay terrorists get lasers and flashlights, and we get gay c-mags and pissy scopes. And dont expect any mods to come out anytime soon!

P.S.
Raven Shield really brought back a new meaning to the gamelevel called "Elite" in coop-games. Look into yourself, and answer me honest:

How many "terrorist hunts" have you finished in singleplayer on Elite-level so far ??

My best shot so far, is 19 out of 20 terrorists in City Street Large on "mission" and "Terrorist Hunt".

I played my first co-op game the other night, and I was disappointed at the continuing existence of Red Storm Terrorists. You know, the kind who magically sense your presence from around a corner 30 yards away, and then put a bullet through your eye with an instantaneous shot from the hip as soon as you peek around the corner. Realistic AI would make that game much more interesting.

I've beaten Single Player on Elite. Just did 20 terrorists at Peaks, Lone Wolf, all 20 kills ( elite ), just have to take advantage of the fact that while they may be good shots, they're exceedingly dumb.
