Ryan has been quite recently, maybe he's done some work on it </hopeful>. Anyway, phasing out GameSpy eh? I won't be crying at that funeral.

He's been updating his 'finger' quite often, but nothing about AA since the hotfix a while ago. And GameSpy is still supported, just not used anymore.

Good ridance to a POS as far as im concerned.

Looking at the PC recommended requirements...

The Recommended System Requirements for America's Army are:
Pentium 4 2.0 GHz or equivalent
512MB RAM
English version of Windows 2000/XP
2 GB of uncompressed harddrive space
DirectX 9.0
128MB 3D graphics card supporting transform and lighting*
4x CD-RoM
100% Compatible DirectX 9.0 soundcard**
Broadband Network Connect

Id love to see a intel mac running this and see some comparisons in FPS with a G5!!

Im sure that won't be too hard once we get the UB release... As a side note, UT2k4... as in the real game not the engine... performed great on the iMac [CD2.0 X1600 (256VRAM)] keeping up with, and passing in somethings my G5 (Dual 2.0 X800XT 256VRAM). That goes to show how good even the first gen UBs, without knowing the nuances of the new processors, can be.

Ryan was waiting on his intel iMac to squeeze the last bugs out of AA in UB. I think he got it a few days ago, so I expect the 2.6 version will be intel ready. And won't take much longer to be released.

I just hope he fixed some of the bugs I posted him...

(i.e. The watersound from both ponds in River Basin were missing in 2.5)

Just tried it for a few hours - offline. The two new maps, Border and Dusk are very nice indeed. It’s very cool to get another VIP mission as the one on Hospital. Another good thing is imo that the new maps are not SF maps. I think the SF guns ruin some of the gameplay as people tend to camp more with their scoped guns than they do with the ironsight guns. Other than that lots of small bugs have been corrected.

I wonder if we'll see a performance boost this time. I miss the days when new version updaters meant better frames per second. Like Unreal 2k3 ... that was an amazing updater. Maybe it's just a thing of time due to AA giving no return to developers compared to UT games.

I doubt we'll see any performance boosts, I heard somewhere they used higher quality textures in both the new maps.

Anyway, enjoying the 'almost' windows free servers for the moment  Wink
