assassin, i read what grifter wrote.  he basically said that evill was rude to him when he asked a question, and his chief complaint was the lack of info on the web site (both in regards to osx and outages).  but he wrote that those were no reason to hate the guy the way people seem to.

pyrex, gameranger has ads at the top of the page.  what have you been smoking?  how do you know what ad's will be on gamesmith, or how many?  do you know something we don't, or are you just reacting?  

unless one service is head and shoulders above the other, i'll probably use both in the future.  i know that i'll hate the pc v mac wars on gamesmith, but if i can't find a good game on gr, then i'd probably look on gs next.

Well Deadeye if you read the description sheet for gamesmith you'd see that advertisers will be able to throw ads in to gamesmiths service....GR does have ads but only for games....Gamesmith service doesn't specify but I'm assuming that when they say advertisers that means anyone who wants a piece of the action.....so that means an uncontrollable explosion of annoying, pointless ads...

That is fine Pyrex, but you made the hasty and retarded decision of labeling it attacking pop-ups. For all you know, the ads might be placed exactly like Gameranger.

Also, the Mac vs PC thing isnt at all like Mac users make it seem. Odds are that most PC players will stick with the GameSpy's, the Zone's, and the ubi.com's like they do now. Also, I forgot to mention that most PC players dont give a flying fuck about Mac users...only Mac users make it seem like there is a giant battle brewing.

I suppose you're right assassin...pc users really don't give a fuck about us cause they think the Microsoft empire is god. I'm hoping that Gamesmith won't be a place of useless bickering like Gameranger has grown accustomed to...If anything it might be a nice peaceful place for mac and pc users to play each other

Yea guys the pc users really don't give a flying fuck about us.  As much as I would like this to be a big competetion between us, also possibly set up a pc-mac tounament it isn't really a big thing to them.  They aren't going to just delete Gamespy and get Gamesmith to be with us, just like I'm not going to do that with Gameranger.  Some of my pc friends said they will get both as I'm sure almost all of these mac users will.  But a lot more pc users don't give a shit and wouldn't ever get gamesmith.  Ofcourse there are a lot more of them so there will still be a good amount of them anyway.  Hopefully this will work out though, the pc users don't really dislike us or want to have something to do with us.  They are much more happy just playing regular rogue spear and not even using UO to ip join our games.  So I think it is in our heads, we don't like pc users because they have bad comps but they don't mind us.  I'm sure they wouldn't mind play a pc-mac tourny, which would be much more easier with Gamesmith.  Hopefully Gamesmith will turn out popular.

yes infection i have a pc and i will not be just giving up gamepsy but i will use gamesmith* too. i plan to spam gamesmith though........ and as infection said in pc world more ppl play regular rogue spear (about 300 on at a time) rather than uo (30 ppl on at a time) so i dont think there r many pc ppl to convert to gamesmith in the first place unless they come from the original rs.

Yes assassin the ads just might be placed nice and tidy as gameranger but my assumption is well placed....look at everything that's been free on the internet...its riddled with ads (ie. angelfire, 150m, etc.)...you can't escape it....

You see, this is all great news. ?Thanks to GameSmith and it's basic idea of letting PC and MAC gamers meet together and join games, it opens the gate for something like "GameTime?" that supports all present programs used by both PC and MAC users. ?(BTW, I just made GameTime? up for this example ) ?GameTime? will support GameRanger, Zone and all different Applications like it and will convert it to one universal chat where gamers from all areas come and meet and play. ?(Look at it like a bigger GameRanger, and the diff "rooms" are all the different applications ) ?Now wouldn't that be a nifty idea, if not already in the making...

What's also cool, is that you still would have the freedom of simply running the other application by itself(Like hanging out in one room only, like us |?K|'s do in the Bar & Grill since we first entered our first BL in January 2002 )

Back on topic: This will likely fail due to patches and what not needed for games. I bet PC and Mac users will still be split apart and cant play in each other's games. Only a few games like RS:UO have identical patches that allow cross platform combat.

I have been original at everything I do since day one and simply when I get interested in something, I go out of my way to learn all about it and do anything I can to contribute and get involved. ?I guess when you got an ego as big as yours, you just can't see no one come up and sit next to you at what you call "your view on status". ? psh I don't know how many of you guys have played on The Zone or Gamespy but i have and they all suck huge balls.  I have DSL on my PC and i get 100-150s on Gamespy and Zone,  i think more people will switch across cause those services suck ass.  I think MAC and PC won't get along at all and we will all bitch about which is better and there will be a mac side and a pc side, remember we are dealing with PC users.

Rapid, they (including me) are not being Negative at all - what they've said is exactly right, there will be version conflicts etc. the way you might find if you tried to play RS against PC, and the mod conversion thing apparently isn't right due to the PC updates too.

If they can get GameSmith to work... to release it soon... Scott Kevill would have competition, I am not sure he would allow people to use both... he has apparently used those tactics before... and most people (including myself) would choose GR over the new thing. Going to go look at the URL to argue a bit more on topic....
