Thanks, but it's not really about pwning him.
BFG actually wants the right goal, and is thinking long term, both of which are good. He just seems to have a little personal sympathies that cloud his thinking a bit. Most people are far worse about it than he is.
All I've said different is that: 1) Both sides have to give equally, and be treated equally for peace to have a chance. And 2) that while fixing the long term problems, yes, you still have to manage the short term terrorism.
I'm sorry for the Palestinians that don't support the terrorist, and just want to live in peace, not under the heal of Israel. Yes, they are the ones that always lose, and lose the most. But, if they, as a people, aren't ready to step up to the table and take their share of the responsibilities (actually policing and stopping terrorist attacks from being launched from within their boarders), there's no way a Peace can be maintained, and no way (and no logical reason) for Israel to back down. I agree with BFG that managing the situation will never fix the situation. But I can't blame them for managing it, or trying to, when that's the only option they have. I've also never said that Israel was smart or right in everything it has done to manage the situation. They are just as hot headed as their arab neighbors.
Decades ago, there was an Israeli general, that used to go in and actually wipe out the whole village from where the terrorist attack was launched. Brutal, but effective.
The shame of it is that this technique would have so many people up in arms today, but it actually may have been easier on the Palestinians than the occupation and constant fighting is today. It's a tough call.
While I agree that two wrongs don't make a right, sometimes the second guy has to wrong to keep the thrid, fourth and fifth wrongs from happening. Or, in this case, to just delay them.
Israel, as a nation, is there to stay. As long as it's neighbors believe that they don't have that right, the circle of violence will never be broken, and it wont be the Israeli's fault. The really sad part about it is that they have come so close to peace so many times, only to have some asshole terrorists make a big push and ruin it all.
