MaG War Weekend
«

October 26, 2001, 12:02:50 am »
Hello all,
In the name of good gaming everywhere I wanted to share some news here. MaG (the new gaming chat program that's in beta right now), is trying to get a big weekend tourny going this weekend {Oct 26 - 28}.
In the interest of keeping mac online gaming growing, I suggest everyone stop by, check it out, and give any suggestions about improvements to the admins. They are trying to make it a much more relaxed and fun place to be then GR.
IMHO, we can never have too many good places to game from.

I remember the good ole' days of mag, when "the hand" dominated the warcraft 2 ladder, mort and i were drinking lots of fresca, and rushing was truly the only tatic.

Romulus, way to show your ignorance! Mag was a web league back in 94, before a chat program and it lost it's popularity not because of Gameranger, but because Blizzard released WC2 Bnet.

From what I saw of MaG when I got on this morning, it sucks. What is up with the freaking multicolored text that makes everything unreadable. Also there were all of four people on. Much of the stuff was unorganized, like the ladders where they aren't seperated by game making it hard to know which clans are for which game. Maybe it will get better with it being only a beta but I don't see it replacing GR for anyone who isn't banned from GR.
BTW, about MaG's former self, I played on a Warcraft ladder on a Mac Gaming thing on AOL, I don't know whether this was same thing as MaG though.

GameRanger will always be my Mplayer app until of course you have to start paying to use it...
And why would mac need more than 1 mplayer client, not like there are enough of us online to fill them up, it would just spread people out....

Why do we need more mac gaming sites??
Just read back a few pages to when GR went down for those 3 weeks..... All the threads on how to actually play games then.
Bondo, that's the sort of thing you should be telling the admins over at MaG. Being in beta, and free, I'm sure they'd welcom insightful opinions.
Rom, please get off the bandwagon..... please. I'm trying to
attract
people to MaG over the weekend, not scare them off......

Rom, i think ur just a "tad" too much into this "MaG" thing...
Grift, we
need
mac mplayer clients... its so hard to find every1's IP and even then , you would only be playing with GR people of whom you have either their ICQ or AIM nick... many less games and less people playing
Its basically just a pain in the butt to look for people and IP connect every game....

I don't know, I've managed fine with no IP joining, what is the big deal about it other than getting into full or locked games.

Yes, Viper, I am into this MaG thing. MaG is better then GamerAnger because it has good admins, and you can hang out. It's not so much for the supre-sersious gamer, but if you want to chat, it's great. I think that once it's released, it will be far better then GamerAnger, and have full game support, and many more users, because both PC's and Mac's can use it, unlink GamerAnger. Thank you

Wait, both PC and Mac players can use it? The hell with that, I don't want to associate with those freaks. Between the rainbow text and lack of R6 support I think I'll have to avoid MaG. I will check in occasionally to see about improvements but ugghh.

Yeah, they are making PC's able to use it, but it's mainly for MAC PC users, such as Grifter. I think he said that he was on a PC this afternoo (my time) because he was working on it, or somthing like that... Most PC user's won't want to use a 'Mac' application... And plus, GameSpy is better. And I think it will have R6 support in final, but beta it's all IP join...

To put Romulus' post bluntly, MAG is a place where dumbasses like him may stand a chance of not getting banned because of something stupid they said in the chat.

Uh Rom, its impossible for a Mac R6 to play a PC R6 due to the different version numbers... AND Mac's can already play PC people under the servers option if you have a game that uses it.... It would be really stupid to have a Mac / PC mplayer client due to the incompatible issues btw the systems.... O, and if u REALLY want to chat, y not head to ur local AIM chat

Not True Rom, RS has a diff version number than the PC version right now, RS:UO has the same version # as PC right now.... Different version numbers do not work together
