I figured out I need to do some port forwarding crap on my router to alow me to host games. I know where to get the port numbers and stuff I just need a good description of how to set them.
My router is a lynksys

login to your router using 192.168.1.1 by default username and pw are admin.
goto advanced/forwarding.
put the ports in the port fields and the ip of the computer you hosting on.(ie:192.168.1.100) You can go into your system prefs and click on network to get the machine ip.
thats it, hit apply and continue.

why is it 192.168.1.1 and not 192.168.0.1?
if It has to do with router, nm, but I was just wondering... I have netgear, and I made a schedule to allow certain ports to be forwarded to the computer I host on, and its worked fine. =D I have no idea why im writing this, but hey.. lol

lol skipper.
btw. There is an alternative to the port forwarding etc which is to use DMZ (DemiliterisedZone) which basically pops your computer up from behind the firewall - downside is decrease in security... upside is lack of fiddling about with ports.

Well thx for answering an old post but I figured it out. I don't like DMZ because might as well just be directly connected to the internet.
