No explosions at all.  All you need is a warthog and both tanks.

That would be great to do, unfortunately its just this side of impossible to pull off on the Mac/PC version of Halo, since with any lag at all, things start acting pretty funky (plus, the servers with tanks on them arent the Bungie servers, and are usually pretty laggy)  However, getting a chaingun hog ontop of the base is quite useful.  Granted, you just made yourself sniper bait, but you can cause some serious havoc with a .50 cal and a totally clear field of view.

One thing you can do with the tank however, is if youre on the red team on Gulch, is hop in the tank, and go back up on the ledge behind the red base, and angle the tank in such a way that youre 1) concealed from most snipers, and 2) have a commanding point of view with the main cannon.  Unfortunately at that range you really cant hit shit, but its still fun!

Us xbox players call that siege mode Lone Wolf.  It's a pretty useless tactic for defending your flag since you are so far up in the hills.

bah its easier than poo to hit someone from up the hill with the cannon because you would have at least 3-4 shots when the person aproaches and leaves if they got the flag

Viper, it is siege mode, but siege mode where you have a close to top-down view of the entire map, so you can put rounds on other tanks that are in "siege mode" at the entire other end of the map, and kill the drivers.  Or, you can drop rounds ontop of the blue base, and clean out any snipers that are up there.

Plus it distracts their team one hell of a lot, since instead of going for the flag, most of them will be more interested in taking you out than getting the flag (granted, a kind of bummer of a spot, but someone will take your spot if/when you die)

okay, so I can't figure out how the hell to take screen shots of my HALO games. And plus, what the hell is FSAA. When I turned it all the way up, my game looked un detailed and shitty, but when it was turned down, with all other settings up, my game looked detailed and good. whats up with that?

Full Scene Anti-Aliasing. "Aliasing" is also known as "the jaggies". Anti-aliasing techniques are mathematical algorithms which interpolate the pixels at the edges of objects in an image to remove the jaggies. There are a variety of anti-aliasing algorithms, but all (AFAIK) result in some degree of blurring of the image. So your problem could be that Halo's anti-aliasing method is not very good. However it's more likely that all requests for anti-aliasing are handled by the video card (since anti-aliasing is calculation-intensive and newer cards have FSAA acceleration), which would mean that your card just isn't very good at it.

Have you tried FSAA in any other games? That would settle that question, at least.

I just got this really great mental image of Loth sitting in the chair of the "father of the matrix" explaining what FSAA is.
