As for the Nostromo N50, I have bought one about a month ago and it is prety sweet. Although it does take serious time to get used to, but well worth the 12 bucks I paid for it.

It totally replaces your keyboard for gaming, yes. It's not intended to be a primary input device. I have an N50 myself, and it took me about three days to get used to it for GhR, and it made things much easier. ASAP, I'm going to replace my N50 with an N52, however. The N50 does not have enough buttons for tactical games.
I would highly recommend the pads to any right-handers, and possibly even leftys. Sinister folks would lose use of the D-pad and throttle wheel on the N50, plus a thumb button or two on the N52. Whether that's enough to make it unattractive is your own call.

Actually Loth you can just plug the N52(or N50 if thats what u have) into the usb port on the side of your keyboard and have more then enough keys to use.
Anyways, back on topic...have we found a way to bind voice messages to certain keys with custom text?

One last bit for the "off the topic" section of this thread....
Does anyone have any Left handed input devices that they can recomend... I see the N52 and N50 are both carfully molded for right handers and to make it as uncomfortable as possible for the lefties...
on the topic, can this not be solved using Applescript?

Voods, duh. : P What I meant by "totally replaces" was that you don't have to move your hand off of it while gaming.

so still no resolution to the problem other than using that handy little "right hand only" keyboard replacing gizmo and scripting the keys??

from what i've found out, there is not way to bind any of the voice messages to just one key. in the pc world a few clans have come up with external programs that run macros (same as the "right hand only" keyboard replacing gizmo that scripts the keys). i'm sure there is a way to do the same thing for the mac, maybe in apple script, although i know little about apple script.

So we either have to become extreamly quick with the given communication keys or rely on voice comm like Netfone ect? seems a pity - makes you appreciate it in GhR.

Well, you can bind regular chat messages (without the voice) to any key, just like it was in GhR. But if you want to bind the chat messages that have a voice soundfile with it, you'll have to do the macro thing, or hit the keys quickly. Here's how you bind non-voice chat messages (from my previous post):
Quote from: c| Splinter on January 01, 2004, 05:49:30 pm
1)Open this files in a text editor:
Rainbow Six 3 - Raven Shield/Raven Shield Data/Save/Profiles/User.ini
2)In there you will see a bunch of key assignments. To add a chat message just type '
TeamSay Message
'
ex. To add '
Roger That
' to the Number Pad 1 add this line:
NumPad1=TeamSay Roger That
This gives you team messages, to say to all subsitute '
Say
' for '
TeamSay
'.
