Anybody know if the last Apple CRT 17 inch display (Specifically the Apple Studio Display 17" ADC) will work with the new G5 Macs?  I have finally talked my wife into letting me buy a new Mac but she is limiting me to $2,500 (damn, I thought if I made the money, I would actually get to spend it).  The $2,500 has to include a monitor and tax, shipping, etc.  I think I can squeeze buying a 1.8GHz G5 (using an un-named source for an educational discount) and a used Apple 17 inch CRT from eBay, but the seller at eBay and Apple can't seem to confirm if it will work with the new G5's.  And if it does work, will it require an adapter?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The 17" has an ADC connector, which should work just fine with any G5.

Of course, if you aren't sure, ship the monitor to me and I'll run a 6 month test on it.

Awh... i just got a deal for a couple of days work and ?1000 in my pocket... the temptaton to upgrade to a duel 2Ghz G5 is just so tempting....

What do people think i'd get for a duel 1Ghz G4 with 19inch Lacie Electron blue monitor? ... please say lots and lots and lots ;0)

BFG just look at ebay.co.uk or .com for a few days... there you can get some ideas on prices. on the german ebay site, 1999 iMac regularly get sold for 360-400 ?, which is a lot more than they are worth.

Why are you wasting money on an Apple Display?  I mean sure they're nice monitors, but so fucking expensive for no reason.  Wouldn't you rather have a nice 21" Flat Screen monitor which saves you a couple hundred?
