Bondo, just for clarification....letme fix this up w/ you. ? ? ? ?PK = Juliet. ?Yes...it appears many of you don't realize this. ?Did I hack GR? ?....No. ?Carrotop did. ?He and Martha Stewart came over to the house last night, fixed me a lovely lobster nuberg, gave me a full body massage with sacred oils from India, performed a four-way around the world, and then they hacked GR.

Alright, I'm done...time to start a new thread.

Don't feel bad Pyrex. ?When I first started programing, we used the != key to be the != symbol (not !=). ?it even had it's own key on the old DEC terminals I used way back. ?Yes, for those who like trivia, I learned to program on computer terminals that didn't even have monitors, they ?just printed each line on a roll of paper (ever hear of the teletypes). ?The best was the saving of programs on ribbon tape (aka tickertape). ?a long roll of 3/4 inch red paper that would have holes punched in it for each character. ?You can see an example of it in the movie "Pirates of Silicon Valley". ?The Bill Gates character is carrying around a bunch of rolls of it early in the film. ?

Yes, it was a joy to move on to the IBM punch cards when I learned Fortran. ?Just don't drop that box... it'll take hours to get your program back in the right order again.

Sorry, got stuck in the way back machine again. ?Just wanted to mention that even if you knew some programing Pyrex, != isn't universial, so don't let anyone talk down about it. ?Romulus also tends to comment out his name (adding // at the left margin of many programing languages tells the compiler that it is comments, not code. ?This used to also be the REM, for remarks, but I'm guessing that the popularity of the band with programmers in the late 80's /early 90's killed that). ?Wow, anyone else up for late 70's programing trivia? ?

Virus?  Like flu bug to medicine so is a programming bug to software?  That is my best guess.  Or it could be that the programmers got high a lot.  You know smoked roaches, roaches are bugs.

The term "bug" is used because back in the day of the huge ass, room-filling computers a bug (a moth if I remember correctly) flew into one and fried one of the boards.

Ace wins the cigar.  I always thought it was a cockroach, but that's probably just some image from an old Sci Fi movie.  Not that it matters, but yes, there was a failure due to an insect like creature (aka bug) fired in the wires.
