I use a 15.2" 1GHZ Powerbook G4, 1GB RAM, 64MB ATI Radeon 9000.

Over the past 2 months or so, I've been having a problem with Ghost Recon.

When I look forward, like at the start of a mission, I get 2-5 FPS. However, once I turn around and face backwards, I get 40-60 FPS.

At first this bug was just at Embassy, then at Tank, and now at almost every map. It seems to be spreading through my copy of Ghost Recon.

I figured that it could be one of my mods ( Island Thunder and a bunch of others ), so I tried removing all of those --- Same problem.

I figured "oh well, I'll just go with the reliable way and reinstall GHR". Then comes the second problem. My GHR installer doesn't work. It will get about half way through and then crash.

Any suggestions on how to fix my current copy, or anyone with 100kbps up or better want to upload it to me? Wink

Thanks in advance,
Typhy

i dunno about that bug, maybe try turning the zbuffer down in the options.

As for the installer sucking, i've only been able to install the game once, so basically i'm stuck with the same install as i used almost a year ago.

Typhy...Ive been noticing some problems with Ghr as of late also. I dont have the problem that you do but my proble is a hosting problem. I use to be able to host 12-14 no problem, now i cant host at. I havent tried the re-install part yet because I will loose all my grid maps and other things like server side maps that are a pain to install. Any suggestions..

btw:my line speed tests at 1500/350

ps. Tyhpy..have you tried tossing your video card prefs.?

I know that it has nothing to do with my graphics settings. I've tried:

64MB ATI Radeon 9000

64MB ATI Radeon 9000 Pro

64MB ATI Radeon 8500

128MB GeForce 4 4600 Ti

128MB ATI Radeon 9700

Same problem on all of those graphics cards.

I don't see how it could be something as simple as a graphics setting, sense my graphics have always been on highest, ( 1154x768x32 ), it doesn't seem that it could slowly infect my copy of GHR.

Any help would be much appreciated, this makes it completly unplayable.

Well, after several months of trying to find the answer, I was rather annoyed to find out how simple it is.

"Human Shadows"

Today, I pirated a copy of the game, sense my installer wouldn't work. Oddly, that didn't fix the problem. Because of this, I figured it had to be a graphics setting. I eliminated various settings, trying to isolate the problem.

All Detail - Human Shadows was the answer.

I don't know why, but that's it.
