So I go through life thinking I'm a fairly advanced Mac user - for my purposes anyways........
Then out of the blue I discover a folder on my hard disk that I didn't even know existed! ?HELP!
Here's the rundown -
? ? ? ? I use OS 9.04, mostly because I'm too lazy to upgrade. ?All is great, and having no problems with my machine. ?Then I'm using IE to open a movie file, which I do occasionally just because I like to browse my hard disk using the IE layout. ?I'm sure you've all done this before, if not just use this link:
file://.*/This allows you to browse your computer, which is just dandy. ?So I'm doing that and all of a sudden I come across a folder called "temporary items". ? You might have one of these too - it would be at an address something like
file:///Hard%20Disk/Temporary%20Items/Back to the point of all this - the temporary items folder contains a couple hundred items loooooong since deleted from this computer. ?It's like a random archive of stuff - pictures, a couple sounds, random email messages that I remember receiving well over a year ago. ?There's stuff in the folder from the earliest days of my machine. ?So at this point I'm thinking, "cool" and wondering why I'd never seen it before. ?So I go to look at my hard disk outside of IE...and it's NOT THERE!
So then I think....well, it must be invisible. ? but its not. ?ResEdit shows no trace of Temporary Items, nor does FileTyper. ?It just simply isn't there.....I can't edit the contents, I can only view them.....
Incidentally, this probably has nothing to do with IE. ?Some of the documents in the folder date back from before I had even downloaded IE. ?Plus, NS showed them too, although it is not quite as efficient in displaying file heirarchies.
So, in conclusion to this ramble, I am thoroughly confused by the presence of this folder. ? What is it? ?What can I do with it? ?Does anybody know?
<p.s. you can stop laughing now if you consider me foolish>
