Load a gun with rubber bullets, beanbags, pepper pellets ; all can be loaded into a shottie....that's enough to put the threat down. after you've called the PD though. That's the method i'd choose.

Ok, my turn.  It sounds easier than it is.  I've aimed a gun at someone before, not in my home, do any of you hunt and know that feeling you get when you put your sights on that buck you've been waiting for all season?  Well, it's like that but multiplied a few times.  On the other hand, if somebody came into my house, I have my mind set allready that they are there to harm my children or wife, not to steal something.  Unfortunately I would still have the disadvantage being armed because you have to make sure it isn't someone you know, family, friend, neighbor, etc... being there for some reason with no ill intent, whatever that may be.  But, with all that said and done I would not have a problem with shooting to kill with my .357 very close to my bedside Wink.  I remember when me and my wife first moved out together, I took her to the shooting range many times so she would know what to do if she ever had to.  And when my kids get old enough they'll be taught as well.  You have to protect your own 'cause the police wont be there to do it 99.9% of the time.  And to coment on someone elses post, I'm in the NRA and I'm not a cop.

You guys are fuckin paranoid. 9 times out of 10 when someone illegally enters a home they want to avoid contact with any of the residents as much as possible.

Shoot him, naaa, probably go and kick hiss ass before sitting on him till the Police arrived... but you don't freaking shoot someone for robbing your house. - of cause all this is totally hyperthetical - there are so many vairable that could alter the situation its rediculose to say "yes" or "no"

Not duty to kill, but if I was given orders to. Otherwise I would not.

how would you know what you'll do in a hypothetical situation, there are just too many parameters that you couldnt possibly think of.

but i guess people who got a gun at home are willing to use it whatever happens.
