I started to play RtCW on my PeeCee this weekend, and I can tell you, as soon as it is awailable for the Mac i'll buy it. this game is just freaking cool! Even in Easy Mode it takes up to 7 hours, and the AI is _quite_ good!

Not to mention I've been playing the MP test which is one map since october and I still am not bored with it.  I think I might even be better at it than I was at R6.  Now maybe when it and GR X comes out we can have some good DAMN community battles.

Bondo -

Is that MP test a free download or what?  How do you get it?

I just noticed at the Aspry site that it will have OS 9 support in the final product.  BTW, I don't see meeting to play as a viable option until we can do it on GR as there are just too many games to be able to arrange it properly.

Get information at www.aspyr.com, they are the publisher of the game.  Also, you can get the demo (which is a one level MP Test) at the link that Elandrion gave above.  The full version should be coming out any day now.

One more thing bothers me Bondo... I went to the "Aspyr" website to check out features about "Return To Castle Wolfenstein".

I read through the requirements and it says you need a G3/G4/iMac/Powerbook (550mhz at least). All I wanna know is if it's the Powerbook only which needs a 550mhz processor to be able to play the game. I'm stuck here with a 400mhz iMac with 128 megs of RAM, an 8mb ATI Radeon graphics card, and am currently working on MacOs 9.0.4 but have downloaded MacOs 9.2.1 and purchased MacOs 10.1 a month ago. If I increase my virtual memory to let's say 300 megs, will it affect the game? If yes Bondo, tell me what possible changes it would do/make.

Thanks in advance,
WeaSelFlinK.

Well, I personally have a 400MHz G4 as well, but I have 380MB Ram and a GF3 vid card.  With my stuff I can handle RtoCW with full visual and audio effects without any slowdown.  I guess the question is, how big a part does my extra memory and graphics card power have in letting me run it.  Still, I would think that if you skimp on some graphics stuff that it would work fine (I still don't see how you survive with such little Ram).

Btw, to anyone who might know, is there a way I can get RtoCW to display the framerate?  My dad's company that makes memory just got a G4 from Apple to test their memory on and I need to be able to see the framerate to test how well it is doing.

And as for that, how can you get any application to display its frame rate.  The only one I've ever seen is iTunes, and on my Mac it has horrible frame rates with the visuals.  They are very jerky....not really sure why...I know my graphics card can support more than 5-10 frames per sec which is what I get.  I have an ATI Rage Pro 128 which is not impressive, but not awful either.  I also have a 400mhz G4 but with only 192 megs of RAM....maybe that is the problem

But still Bondo... By increasing virtual memory, doesn't it actually slow down the computer?
Try figuring that out!:-)

Weasel, having virtual memory is better than not having enough memory to even run the program, but no, it isn't as fast as real memory.

Loud, I know UT has an option to display the framerate as do a few other things, supposedly I can type a message into the RtoCW console window to get it to display it, but I can't figure that out.

I, for one, want to know why there's no demo for OS 9 when the full version is supposed to support both operating systems
