WOOOHOO!!! I got AA. The begining of training was pretty easy, but once I got to the online part of it, I felt like the ultimate noob of noobs
. Well just like any other game I guess, gotta play till ya get better, or the wife starts yellin
. The hardest part for me was not knowing the maps and distinguishing the enemy from my team. Well, I'd like to hear how you guys did/do.

About 350Megs compressed, around 850 uncompressed.
It
requires
a 700 Mhz G4, 256 RAM, 1GB Space, 32MB graphics card or better. Rage 128s are
not
supported.
It recommends: 1.25GHZ G4 or better, 512 RAM, 1GB space, 64MB graphics card or better.
I just played it on my laptop a bunch ( 1GHZ Powerbook G4, 1GB RAM, 64MB ATI Radeon 9000 ), and the framerates were fine. There were places where they could've been better, however, they were highly playable, about 40 FPS in problem situations.
We have a bit torrent set up, at the moment, that's the best way to download it. I got speeds ranging from 10 to 240kb/sec. Probably an average of about 90kb/sec.
After the torrent is dead, if it's not on any reliable internet sites, I'll upload copies.

The official free mirrors are already going up, so you don't need to worry about bit torrent if you haven't already.
If you find a bug, I'd suggest not posting here, but on the actual AA Mac Support Forum.
Oh, and it does run on a G3 iBook too, so it's not just G4's. As long as it's a new iBook with the better video cards.

works fine on a 466mhz G4 with a Geforce3 graphics card and 768megs ram. It runs better than UT2k3 actually.
Interesting game, but i run into a few issues with the slow mouse settings (is this forced perhaps?).
Anyhow, its a cool game and the training gives a good feel of what actual army training is like, except you can't beat the fat kid with a sock stuffed with soap for fun...
I have run into a problem in figuring out what to do after i pass the standard non-online-server settings. (proper game design should lead a drunk person to their goal, rather than piss them off or make them read something in a small font size, thus leading me to stop playing and post this message in a RS board, tisk tisk bad design).
But aside from that this game looks much like everything GHR tries to be, but can't make up for in "realism". Ther interfaces has a few weird things to it (mainly the slowness of my mouse which angers me), and i haven't tried to configure it for my nostramo speedpad.
After an hour of playing i'm hopeful, but my socks haven't been knocked off...
Ghost Recon remains a game that i can just jump right in and play, but America's Army looks sexy and requires a bit of attention to pass the levels.
(combine the lvls in ds with ghr is what this game is feeling like)
maybe i'll have better luck with, this game tomorrow, asuming that i don't have a headache or sleep untill the late afternoon.

What pisses me off about this game incredibly much....
The rifle range training, you have to get 36 hits out of 20 standing and 20 liying down, sounds easy right....just point and shoot.
NO, its a f***n nightmare i tried it tens of times, put my aim exactly at the middle, wait alittle b4 i shoot and gently press the mouse...miss
This would be ok, if this rifle training wouldnt control wether or not you get sniper rifle in the rest of game. This frustrates me beyond words, I mean its not like those who acctually get the 36 are expert marksmen....Their computer just happened to randomly select 36 hits for them...
And there something weird about the game....hard to explain, but it feels like a plastic toy compared to GhR...
"Good morning soldier, welcome to another day of qualification" x30 = insane
Over and out.

If the rifleman training were skill-based and fucking hard (like it is in real life), that would be different. No less annoying, but different. But it's incredibly hard and luck-based. Wheee. Considering that I have, by far, the worst luck of anyone I've ever met (die rolls almost always go against me, coin tosses, card drawing, etc. The rules of probability warp around me to insure that I get the dirty end of the stick), having the ability to snipe be based roughly 80% on luck is rather infuriating.
Not to mention that the lack of zoom is driving me FUCKING NUTS. I can't fucking see the enemy. If I do see them, I can't identify them because the uniforms all look the same when I'm looking at a ten-pixel-tall blob (do the snow unis have to be no more different than RS's Arctic I and Arctic II?). My eyes are killing me from straining at my screen trying to see people. Of course, nobody else seems to have this problem, as bullets and grenades regularly come out of fog onto my head, or I'll see a one-pixel-wide muzzle flash and take three rounds in the face. I played ten rounds before seeing an enemy, and when I did see one, I died instantaneously.
Hopefully it's just a skill thing, but from the strain on my eyes from one night of playing, I suspect I'll be trying to teach my seeing-eye dog to play before I get good enough to see people.

It's all about the realism. Most soldiers don't have scopes on their rifles, or grenade launchers. And it's not easy to tell friend from foe at a distance.
It's also not luck based when shooting with the iron sights (but when not using them, it does not shoot exactly where you think when shooting from the hip.) Aim for the bottom of the targets, not the head (and not the heart). I also found, especially with the sniper rifles, that I was more accurate firing on the inhale, not on the pause. It was more predictable to me.
The biggest problem I faced was that the PC players all know the maps well, and throw the blind nades to kill the noobs (like me) because they know where you are going. I hope we can get some mac servers set up soon, to ease us into it a little.
Just got done talking to like three people. One more thing you have to remember. It is supposed to be fuck hard to hit expert. This is about realism, and in the real world, most people can't. Not every soldier gets to be a sniper, just because they want to.

Downloaded it from FileFront or something like that. Tried twice, keep getting "End of File Error" once I go to unstuff it. WTF am I doing wrong, or is it the file?
I'll be right there with ya CS as soon as I can get this F**king thing going!

Bucc....its luck, nothing but luck.
If i place the aim exactly on the middle like you said and still not hit....thats cause im not made to be a sniper..? No, its bad f***n luck.
Its a useless part in the game, eventually everyone that really wants the sniper-rifle will get it...even me

My only question: What does "Failed Authorization" mean? I've gotten this message everytime I try to join a multiplayer server ( yes, I've complted basic, and I'm trying to join an MP server for the next part of training ), it only worked once, early this morning.
