I will be downloading that as soon as it is out :-)

Looks like a good game. Been waiting for its release on Mac since it was announced to come to the Mac.

It will make a nice stop over till we get Raven Shield.

i'm sure the download will show up on bittorrent which will allow better download speeds. The servers that hosted the UT2k3 demo were swamped from people downloading only a 200meg file, imagine all these bastards trying to download 1gig+. So i'll post a link the proper .torrent file as soon as the game is released.

They're talking about BitTorrent, an interesting filesharing protocol/system. When downloading a file from BitTorrent, your computer downloads chunks of it from many hosts at once, while uploading the chunks you've downloaded to other people who want them. If you're downloading a popular file (like America's Army, for example), BitTorrent is very fast, because there are many hosts to download from. A "torrent" is a URL that BitTorrent follows to begin a download.

KDX is OS X native. I'm not sure, but it might even be OS X only. Using BitTorrent is a better idea, though, since it will be much, much faster than a KDX server.

There's something about this game that's just not right.  It was designed by the US Army and if you read the FAQ it actually says that it meant to be a recruiting tool.  Something is just not right about that.  I want my games designed by scrawny pale faced geeks that haven't seen the light of day in 15 years, not by generals.  They've probably embedded messages into the audio files to brain wash us all!  soon we'll all be playing online thinking, "Yes...Yes, i do want to go down to my local recruiter's office.  Yes...Yes, I do want to be all I can be."

lol. Doesn't matter for me. I'd have a hard time getting into the Army because of really bad knee injury I got in 8th grade. So, bring on the propaganda!

The recruiting side of it was developed for the weak minded in an attempt to make them believe that war is a video game, so join today!

This month, Mac gamers will be able to join the ranks of over 1.7 million registered players of America's Army.  This Mac release of America's Army version 1.7 will be available for download via the Akamai premium download site hyperlink on our downloads page.  Keep an eye out for a `Mac attack' on America's Army later this month.

i wouldn't think so.
Akamai is a giant media/file distributer that apple uses hosting trailers, and i believe that most of MSN is hosted by them (at least the search). I wouldn't see any reason for it to be a pay to download thing since they host files on a massive scale without problems already.

If i wanted to take a guess i'd say the game will come out tomorrow (july 4th), the game was originaly released on that date last year, and it was slated to come out last month. I think it would be fitting for them to release the mac version on independence day just like they released the PC version. I thought i remembered hearing that the game was in late beta/RC last month. The game is downloadible as well as mailing in for a cd, so the cd dublication shouldn't add any time onto the release date if they want to get this thing out on the 4th...
Just my thoughts, but i'll probly be wrong since those bastard mac porting houses love to take their time...

My only problem with AA is the fact that it won't be for Mac users specifically on GR. We will have to join the thousands of PC players, and that to me is just to huge. I wanna play with the ppl I know and have fun, not with a billion anonymous pc users who like to hack. I tried to make the switch over to Socom online only to be way to overwhelmed with all the players and numerous cheaters. There is just no sense of  being part of a community when it is that huge. If on the other hand Evill could somehow make it a GR playable experience, that would be cool.

It all depends on how you connect and find servers.  I've been in PC clans, and we just communicated which servers we'd be on.

I haven't played AA, so I don't know what search features it has, etc, but with games like SOF2, you can even search for players to find what server they are on.

All it means is a little communication will have to happen outside the game (using forums, or GR).  It shouldn't be too hard to start a chat room with the server address that your clan is playing on, etc.

IRC built into the games helps a lot.  I wish more games would do this.
