Well, I don't really have a -best- friend on GR, but a few honorable mentions:
Voods & Snipe and the other AgT guys, Wombles, CovertSnipe, Haz, and SignTist (my evil arch-rival), to name a few. Plus the other BTs guys are cool fellas, too. I know there's more, but eh, I'm too lazy to think them up. I also suck up a lot to Evill whenever I see him, but he never talks to me. =D

I think it's possible to have a very close acquaintance through GR but not a best "friend" as you've never met the person and most likely don't know how you would react to meeting them.

I've been close to Ultimo for 2 years now, I was his very first recruit in his very first clan believe it or not.  I would consider him a close acquaintance and possible a real "friend" but I have never met him in person so I can't say.

I have a lot of people I think are very cool on GR and I would hang out with if I ever met them in real life. I think the closest I am with is probably Bronto, I don't really talk to anyone else other than the occasional RS chat. Oh yeah Snipe is probably my second I talk to him about non Rs stuff sometimes.

probably since we went to school together for a while and have been good friends for about 9 years, but we both have shared the crappy habit of wasting time on gameranger.

     I'm gonna break the streak of drunken posts here. Well, I have the good fortune of being in a clan that recruits for personality compatibility first and playing ability second (we're still trying to figure out how Jeb got in), which means that I'd be happy to hang out with anybody in MP. Except Cossack. Scary drunken Russian bastard = no hanging out.

I talk to cokey (r6ers should remember him) on AIM all the time about non-gaming related things for hours on end several times a week. I also talk to autriche and lyfe (nouget) quite a bit.

There are quite a few old r6ers that I know pretty well and would hang with if I ever stopped by their hometowns. Online friendships are weird though, because even if you know a lot about someone, there's always that nagging doubt that you are talking to some weirdo, the type of doubt which can only be satisfied by seeing someone in person. Nevertheless, I think its possible to form meaningful bonds over the internet. I see it sort of as the perfectly ideal method of making friends, since the only thing you have to judge people on is their personality - shallow factors that may play a part in real life like their looks, clothing, socioeconomic status, race, gender, whatever - are not included in this judgment.

I always enjoy conversation with my pal Foxy, also those slut snelly and blake.  Ignome and all the freaks are great too. Hell anyone who knows me on GR, knows i will talk to anyone, even that cross dresser Wombles and Ones dad...

Ditto Jackal, ditto. And Tasty hit the nail on the head on his post.  Plus, I kinda see it this way: If you talk to someone over the internet regularly, i.e. GR, you end up getting to know them better than people you have met in real life, mainly because you actually have to make conversation.
