how many posts does someone need to have before they can be considered for being an admin
on the same thought, how do you become an admin any way. i.e. who appoints you

Mauti appoints you and there is no real post count number.  But on the other hand, in terms of being a moderator, most forums have enough, if you wanted to be moderator of some worthless thing like Rogue Spear or DAMN forums you probably could be but what would be the point?

Actually that isn't the case, at least outside of me there is very little moderation in General Gossip so there wouldn't be much for you to do, I am really the only one who does any as I'm pickier about things.

but you still have the title of moderator.
that gives you some respect, even if it is just a little

That's like saying: "I spend 15 hours a day on GR, can I be an admin?"

Why the hell would you want to baby sit 80,000 10 year olds (there is of course the odd exception, but by the majoritiy..) ?

The original three moderators (GRIFT, wrath, and I) were asked by Mauti way back in August or so because he was heading off to start his Army stint. Bondo was added later. We don't really need anymore moderators; too many mods can make a mess of things sometimes. (see AK ban thread)

Although rumor has it that if you spam a thread with 1500 posts you are automatically given moderator status...

Yes. Being a Moderator can be fun, my brother and I share moderator time at the Ambrosia web boards as the name: "Typhoon". It gets you respect etc. However somtimes when you really want to take sides in an arguement etc, you're forced not to so that you keep a somewhat neutral opinion on things.

lol, and some moderators in here have the same problem, I dunno which thread, something with ?K.. so search thro all topics  Wink
But, why does it gets u some more respect? I have the same respect for u typhy, as I have for Bondo, for example. I think the one who should gain respect is Mauti, he started all of this, and not just the forums. Look further man, it's not respectfull getting acces by an admin, it's respectfull being one. They can edit and lock and delete threads... So what? What u wanna do when ur one? Delete all threads? Respectfull brain, very respectfull.
