Let him go. If it ends the war a second earlier and saves lives, just let him go quietly. Revenge isn't worthy. The only excuse for hunting him down if he left power would be if he pulled a Napoleon, and tried to come back.
Better to end the war today, with his exile, then tomorrow, with his death.

Not yet Py. He still has his Republican Guard and plenty of military power to quell a popular revolt. The people of Iraq know just how ruthless Saddam is. The ones that would want him removed are terrified of him, the ones that aren't terrified of him have already been cured of that little problem they had known as breathing.
Even if most of Iraq wanted to today, they just couldn't overthrow him yet.

Heh, quite a little time? Most military strategists say that this war might actually stretch out into months because of the Feyahedin guerrilla fanatics in the cities. The Iraqi cities have been made into big fortresses with civilians as shields.
