I disagree with you for two reasons.

First, It seems that AK and CF have resolved some of their differences (or at least decided to solve them in a CB) which was what this discussion was all about.  Regardless of anything else.

Second, in regards to it being an old and tired topic I say... BS.  Kit Kat was not part of any AK or Rapid bashing that went on before....  He came here with a new gripe (to him, not you) and posted it (not well, but that doesn't matter).  Just because you, or anyone else is sick of hearing about AK or Rapid, he shouldn't be able to voice his opinion?  Just because he voices it badly he shouldn't be allowed to?  All banning topics or conversations ever does it make them pop up more elsewhere....  it happens all the time.  

So, besides the fact that you are sick of the topic (and I'll remind you not forced to read every topic), why do you think what was said was better not said?  Same question to the rest of you that think it's a bad subject....?

Okay, I think it's time for our monthly lesson in the English language.

The word "moderator" means "One who holds or champions moderate views or opinions, especially in politics or religion."

Notice the phrase, "moderate views or opionions".. This does not involve being the chief speaker for one side of the parties involved.

I think one of my fellows moderators has been found to be guilty of this.. firstly by taking on himself to argue AK's case and to put KitKat in his place b/c he may not have approached the whole issue exactly right.

Also, moderating does NOT involve stifling the arguement, it doesn't involve changing the message from one side to the other so it isn't offensive to anyone. That isn't our job.

When I accepted this duty.. my instructions were to keep spam and needless insults to a minimum. Now, if you recieved different instructions from Mauti (such as: keep spam down and take the side you think is right and use your powers to keep them on top), please, just tell me so, and we all shall shut our pieholes, since that would be within your authority to use your moderating privledges to do whatever you want regarding AK and the many threads dealing with them.

While I have to admit, all these threads about AK have tired me and I have thought about dropping the forum altogether, I think this is a serious issue.

And anyways, back to the moderating thing.. since there are 4 moderators, a single mod cannot do whatever they feel like regarding the community as a whole w/o consulting and getting a decision from all the fellow moderators who have equal power with you. Just b/c you are in DAMN does not give you "carte blanche" over the forums..

I think it's time we moderators remembered our job and how to do it...

As for what wrath says, I pretty much agree with all of it. Mauti's instructions were fairly simple: no warez, no porn, and no spam. Obviously, by making us mods it implies that he trusts us to use our judgement when need be, but only after consulting each other. (See problems in the BL when admins have had problems communicating). The one point I would like to disagree with wrath is that we should still be allowed to state our opinions as any other forum poster can. Is GRIFT not allowed to argue fervently for the rights of intercourse with sheep because he is a moderator? Of course not.

Actually Ace, the way I read Wrath's post is that arguing for the rights of all men to drop trout and shag a sheep is fine for a moderator.... it's when we start using our moderator 'powers' to enforce our opinions on interspecies sexual relations that it becomes wrong.

The only acceptable abuse of the moderator 'power' is when we are screwing with each other.... because that's just a good laugh! and it is always done in the spirit (and age old tradition) of unsportsmanlike conduct.

There are a few things that are as so blatenly obvious in their bad taste (racist) that will be edited as well, as Ace said, but the list is small... usually it's better to just mock the hell out of somone and show them what an ass they've been An example would be when one poster commented that Mauti had to be a Nazi since he was from Austria.... so obviously wrong and another racist like stereotype... but after a few scorching reply's later and he saw the error in his thinking (or not, but stepped back in line with an appology anyway).  

So while I disagreed with the decision to edit any word (since all words have power), we did talk about ni___r a long time ago, and I follow suit with the group (moderators).  For those that don't know me well enough, the only reason I disagree is that when you let a word like nig__r have power over you and get to you, then whatever word is later used will eventually have the same meaning...  you fought a symptom of the biggotry, not the biggotry itself.  People need to learn that the word isn't offensive, the meaning behind it is...  and they need to change the meaning behind it (or it's perception)...  

I speak this from some experience... as I still have family on the reservations.  They still experience some racism and biggotry because of the social services they  get (all those perks for getting remvoed from their homes and reclocated into camps, er, reservations (or hunted down if they didn't agree).  It doesn't matter what word they are called because Native American can still be said with the same amout of hatred and ignorance as Borochon.  Just like African American can be with all those other words...

i thought it was a bad subject due to the actions of the moderators, not the clans involved. when i wrote my post, the moderators were fighting like cats and dogs(at least it seemed like it). i am not sick of the topic, i am sick of the actions resulting from the topic

That wouldn't matter to me Voodoo... as the racist issue isn't what the post was really about. ?It's pretty clear it was all about CB's with AK not coming off.

As far as the rest goes, you don't have to be black to be offended by racism. ?I'm 3/4 pasty white and I get offeded by it. ?Maybe it's just because I always used to get made fun of for being Scottish. Well I did deserve that for being Scottish because Scottish people are really inferior to the Irish out there so that's acceptable racism,  but that's besides the point.
