when gr is down...

If anyone can help with this, it may be benifical for all. Anyway, is there a way that i can adde some script to my website to show when i am hosting, kinda like when gr supported the online, offline script. So when gr is down all u need to do is go to our site and check to see if a game is going on?

Oh, you want to know how....?

you'll need to write a script that goes out every x minutes to check the port returns on GR. ?Checking the web server will usually tell you if it's down... but lately Evill has been taking GR down without the web server being down... so you'll need to check the ports that GR uses (can probably be found using eitherpeek while running GR or ResEdit... or asking someone that has already done this).

We do this at work to page us when one of the servers goes down... ?the script just pings each server (they are different ports) every 5 minutes... if it doesn't get a return on one, it tries again every minute for the next 5 minutes... if it still gets no return, it sends out a text page. ?It was written in PERL.

BTW, we have been using MAG and KDX for setting up games while GR is down... mainly because having the real time chat helps....  It would be handy if we found one method (no matter what it is) to gather... because the down side in both MAG and KDX is the number of people that show up is small.  Best we got was a 8 person game going last time.

Actually, since this site is hit so much harder then any other when GR is down, maybe we should try to get that script running here too... Elandrion... oh Elandrion...
