Thread about Rapid and what happened on 11/2

I just wanted to get my two cents in here. This has nothing to do w/rapid's personal issues or any flame wars going on, simply with the nature of the forums, which seemed to be the deeper issue behind rapid's original post.

bucc made a contention about a statement rapid made that was presented as a fact (which it is not). rapid got all pissed that someone disagreed with what he said and posted a bunch of really dumb shit that made me punch the wall when i even considered the existence of such a dumb person [geez, thats pretty much a flame? sorry]. rapid tried to speak for the RS community, trying to make it look like a few people that control the forums are ruining it for everyone else. i would like to say as a person of no authority and a person that isnt really in the "inner circle" you speak of (not that such a thing exists) that if the forums became what you obviously think the should be, a bunch of rogue spearers posting things specific to rogue spear than i think that a lot fewer people would come here. this type of discussion and discourse is what makes the forums interesting and keeps me coming back. wtf would be the point of "general gossip" otherwise? and who are you to criticize someone for disagreeing or being disrespectful? from what i've seen you've shown nothing but disrespect for anyone other than the people in your clan and a few other people you want to side with you in arguments. so please dont come to the forums here speaking for the rogue spear community stating what they want, because i really doubt that more than a few people agree with what you had to say on this particular post.

I'm choosing to keep this post in this forum, not because it is on topic but because it is within my domain so it won't be tampered by others.

I have stated before that I think there are issues about some moderator's behavior not being fitting of how a moderator should act.  So I understand where Rapid is coming from in part.  Still, that doesn't excuse his spam rampage.  There are more productive ways of dealing with things.  So yes, I will support him having a ban (not permanant or excessive, just a punishment).  But I also think the mod situation needs to be looked at.

Ok, I decided to move the thread into this forum as it is actually on-topic here (although it's flame content is such that it normally would not be allowed...but in this instance no good would come from deleting it right now.

Getting to the complaints...I think it IS time we look at who is appropriate to be moderating the forums.

Rapid, when a thing such as this happens, don't get all too pissy about it. if you notice an insulting post or one that seems to be out of line, just put a post after it that says

"mod, please delete _____'s post."

i'm pretty sure that'd take care of it.


Bucc, you may not have insulted rap or JamMastaJay, you you sure ripped the hell out of Rapid's post. He's in here, trying to put up a bit of a memorial for Jay, and you come in and nitpick on two minor points in his post, that he called rap hip-hop (the two are interchangeable in my mind) and that he called it the biggest music movement in the world. Sure, they're valid points, but is that the time and place to bring 'em up? No need to be super-technical about all the details.

Actually Bucc, I never even implied that there were moderators abusing their powers...I made it quite clear that there are moderators who I don't think should be moderators, but it is because they break rules such as the no personal attacks thing that we established for members of Black Ops.  It has nothing to do with them editing posts, deleting posts or any other moderator ability, it has to do with how they themselves post.  Nice try though.

Ok, first, make up your mind.  Is ripping all to hell, or is it just two minor points?  If I had ripped it all to hell, wouldn't that be saying how Run DMC had no influence, or that RAP/ Hip Hop wasn't even a dent in the music industry?  So, I have to disagree with you that I ripped his post to hell.

Also, the point about RAP and HIP HOP was a question.  Not a rip, insult or whatever.  Around Motown, they are considered different.  It was a valid question.  And I don't think it inappropriate.

Now, if you leave my comments in context, it's no different then my comments about Paul Wellstone.  I shared my feelings about it, in the context of the post.  

I also want to point out a couple things for you.

1) Rapid doesn't own a thread, so saying that my post should be deleted doesn't make it true.

2) My post was not disrespectful, or meant to be in any way.  There were no insults or negativity as Rapid claimed.

3) There were many posts there that were negative, but Rapid chose to pick on mine, think about that.

4) Rapid altered my quote, making it appear worse then it was.

5) In most of Rapids rants, he talks as much about MacClans as he does about Jammaster Jay.  

It seems pretty obvious to me that he was just looking for a reason to pick a fight with me.  Or just try to get me banned.  This appears to be a pattern with him.

ok, from what i've observed, i hold the following to be true:
Rapid is pissed at Bucc and presumably this "inner circle" for conspiring not to host his site. at the first opportunity to strike out at Bucc, he takes it.

Buccaneer was expressing an opinion. Rapid claims Bucc was being contentious but from what i see he was simply expressing his thoughts on an issue. I mean really, the fact that Rapid thinks whatever he says in a thread about someone dying is automatically right and can't go uncontested in any way just adds credibility to the mods claims about him picking fights.

Bondo, we're pals, but the way you're going about this is utterly stupid. You gave deadeye a warning for saying asshole, but how many times has rapid responded like that to a post, or countless other posters for that matter? Rapid and about 20 other people should have been banned about 20 times over for that offense, then. And I'm really beginning to think you're a masochist and you like all this verbal abuse, because it seems you're always going the opposite direction of things. Insult or compliment, i do not know.

and now for my closing statements..
I think that the mods should even get more harsh with crap like this. Seriously, how many months has this bs been tolerated? Far too many, i think. When we have people picking bitch fights left and right it really takes away from the fun as well as the average IQ of these forums. All this quarreling sure as hell dissuades me from posting.. so i think (this is to all the mods) in the future you should take a zero tolerance stance on this crap and just start banning people. And if you don't like the moderating here, piss off.

Well, I was pushing for a one month ban (minimum), but I guess Mauti only wanted to give him 17 days. Rapid has gotten off pretty easy so far, but if he starts it up again right after his ban, he should be out of here for a long time.

Typhy, I am still waiting for you to respond to my post at the top of page 2 or tell me firmly how I abused my mod powers and should be kicked. Only you and Rapid have openly thought that so far, so I want you to explain your reasoning.

Cookie...there is a difference...under our current lack of stable rules...I am forced to draw a distinction between allowable in normal threads, and allowable in threads that walk the edge of going into flame wars.  If you'll notice, after my warnings the thread took on a calmer appearance so it worked as I had hoped.

Deadeye and Sin...the way you've responded is not really appropriate.? Rapid and Typhy may not be respected posters, but you two are supposed to be...you are in the Black Ops for a reason.? You have sunk to a level that isn't fitting of such a position here.? You need to lead by example.

To start out with Sin; if you can't find out what you did wrong, not only are you a bad moderator, but a dumbass too. Also, to your not allowing people to use the color red: Normaly, a moderator note is a subtle reminder of somthing. If you want to make a clear note about somthing, then you should make a new post. That is why normaly the color back is used for notes. Its obvious that you have no forum experience other than these boards.

Bondo, you say "You are in the Black Ops section for a reason", yeah, because they are friends with KoS Dest, thats the reason, obviously sown by the fact that Jeb is in it, it has nothing to do with quality of posts.

Whatever Typhy, you are the only malcontent who thinks anything was done wrong because you have your head so far up Rapid's ass that you can't see the truth. You still lack the proof that I ask for...Rapid was starting a flamewar and that is why his shit was deleted. He was publicly warned in a visible fashion and he ignored it. He got what he deserved.

As for the red text thing, it is put up there so people know what happened to their post. It is a waste of room to post another thing in a thread saying what was edited out of a post. Get that through your tiny brain.

If people want to use red, let them.  If you need to mod what they're saying, you can then do so in any other color.  The only point is for it to show up well. . .
