To start this thread out on a positive note, I would like to say that there has been some exelent quality posting in the forum lately, its been a long time since it's been this good. I think that much credit should be givven to our moderators for that, you're doing an exelent job guys. I do have a few complaints though. I think that you're going a bit to far with locking threads. To start out with, this is the Genral Gossip, and intelligent arguments is what this place is made for, as Tastey, Bondo and Bucc have been doing. However, I am questioning the locking of the thread where Jeb and I were arguing, as well as a few other threads, Just beacuse its not a political subject doesn't mean that its bad. I understand that you want to cut down on those 10 page flame wars, and thats an wondeful idea and you guys are doing well. But right now I think that you've taken it a bit to far. A thread should be locked;

1.) When the thread asked a question, and the question has been answered.

2.) When logic leaves and insults take over.

3.) When the subject is over, everyone has had their say, or the important facts have been covered and its became repeats of earlier comments.

4.) When the thread is the in the wrong forum ( In which case it should be moved ).

5.) When the topic of a thread has changed.

The problem is comming in the case of the fifth reason for locking threads. I completly understand locking a thread as it gets off topic, but as a moderator when a new thread is started about the topic that the earlier one had strayed off to. You should go back to the earlier one, check for quality, it was a good argument and just was off subject, then leave this new thread open. Right now I feel anytime we start a thread about somthing that came out of an earlier thread, it gets locked. This does not include threads started such as "Why was ( Thread ) locked?", those are unaceptable. You must trust that the moderators have reasons for things.

Just my thoughts, and I hope that you guys are able to correct this problem for the best of the forum.

Regards,
Typhy

Jeb, this post wasn't 100% in response to that. It was in response to whats been going on in the forums lately, advice from a moderator, to a moderator.

having not yet read that particular thread yet, i'll still go out on a limb and make a guess as to why it was locked. i think it is because that you(typhy) have had a past history of having almost every thread you posted in turn into a flame war.
i'm not saying or implying that that is the urrent situaion, but impressions of people are hard to break. hell it took me how long to break out of my image as a spam whore? it will probaly take you at least as long to change your image, maybe more.
all i can say is try not to keep that image accurate, and it will eventually change. it will take along time, but it will

You've broken out of your image as a spam whore?  When did that happen?  You would have thought I'd have heard.

First off, thanks Bucc for banning me, it did make me go to sleep finally. But you can unban me now. Brain go through my post log, then you will see that I have started, and turned nothing into a flame war. I just join in on them, and genraly change them, make them last a long time, and try and keep them away from being flame wars. That or, you need to look up the definition of "Flame war".

Ah, Typhy, I didn't ban you. I saw your messages later, but it had to have been Deadeye.  He was working on the server, so probably saw your messages.  I'll see if he can unban you.

Whee. . .maybe my theory about being ignored really was true. . .

Seeing as I started a very similar thread a couple hours earlier.  Of course mine didn't whine about anything so maybe that's why it hasn't had any replies.  I think from now on when I start a topic I'm starting it as a sticky topic.  And yes I can do that.  I'm just that cool.  Moderators, when I start doing that in the future, leave it up there for a few days at least.  Thanks  Smiley

That is, until everyone and their monkey's uncle figures out how to. . .

Loudnotes, I figured that post was just to the moderators, so no need to post to it.  I did read it though.
