that is true, but ace wont become much of a fool because the process you implied was iterative, the more he does it, the more of a fool he becomes

Just in the names Asterax... just in the names. ?Modus Tolens and Modus Polens are names of two of the simple logical arguments... that's all.

If you ever heard If p then q, p, therefore q, that is modus polens... put in text it's If George Washington was President, he was an American. ?George Washington was President. ?Therefore, George Washington was an American. ?Simple basic first week logic class stuff... ?There are a whole bunch of them... Modus Tolens is just disproving the opposite... etc etc etc.

And Brain, I can tell you go to MTU with that attitude =P ?If it doesn't fit force it, if it breaks, it needed replacment anyway... if not, it was a design flaw... ?But the 2x4 therom does bring some amout of pleasure with it... ?for the guy holding it anyway.

Grifter, I know how to set up logical arguments with premises and conclusion like you talk about there.  I just haven't heard it called by the latin name.

I actually got 7 hours of sleep yesterday morning, but I got 3 today before waking up for the England match so that should bring the average back down.  18 in 96 isn't too many Wink.

actually i got that from a joke i head once

there was a farmer who had a stubbon mule, and every day the farmor would curse it out  for not moving
one day while this was going on, a salesperson from the city was driving by. the salesman stopped the car, got out ant came up to the fence and said 'that isnt the way to do it, you need to talk gently to it" the farmer aggreed to let him try, think that that was a total load of bull
the sales man hops over the fence, and begins to talk softly to the donkey, after about 5 min. of not having any success the salesman goes back to to his trunk, pulls out a 2X4 and smacks the donkey smartly right between the eyes, the then starts to talk to the donkey softly again, the donkey immeadatly started to move

the farmer was amazae. he said" wow that was great, but why did you use the 2X4?, i thought just talking softly would do it"
the salesman replied, "sometimes you need to get their attention first"

i do like the phylosophy though, have to remember that one...

They teach you those theorems in Geometry....but don't call them by ridiculous names until you go to wherever the hell you went to college.

we used the latin names in logic proofs last year in sequential 2...  i don't remember much, but i remember using modus tollens and maybe modus ponens (i think we called that something else)

p.s. the same thing that happend to the other Scott and GR thread is happening here Cheesy (going off topic)
