What happend to the no cheat old days?

I really hate when people yell CHEATER with NO evidence! Casper, if you are representing TASK, then you had better get your ducks in a row and come up with some real evidence to back up your claims. Neither myself, Cossak, or Nighthawk will have this clan looked at as people who yell ?Fire? in a movie theater. I want you to post ALL of your proof with ALL of the names you believe are cheating. If your accusations don't add up, then consider yourself gone.

I am 100% serious here, if you got owned, then fine, but don't falsely accuse people of cheating with no facts. I am posting my reaction in public to let you, everyone in this clan, and all others know that TASK is all about respecting people and the game and nobody will be allowed to ruin our reputation. So please give us this information.

First, people have been known to cheat.  Rom moding his guns for instance in a CB with EsF (I believe, or one of their previous incarnations).

Second, all cheats proven up until this point have been server sided files changed.  So that the cheat will work for everyone on the server.  This is probably a big reason for the guest chosing the maps, the uniforms, etc on the hosts computer (for instance, if you notice that 30 hits aren't killing someone in the white uniforms, you can switch uniforms and see for yourself).

Third, Ultimo seems to thing that player side cheats (like aimbots) have made it over from the PC to the Mac world (and I really hope he's wrong).

Fourth, there is no silver bullet that will keep cheats down... why would a server side cheat not still work in an "anti cheating mod"?  

So, all that said, there has been a long history of people accusing other people of cheating, just because they are good.  My buddy Deadeye gets it all the time.. he doesn't play on GR very often (he plays on PC), but whenever he's playing, people think he's way too good for someone they don't know and accuse him of cheating all the time.  People also have accused me, Ult, Sin, Civ, Oso, Nomad, ElectronicJo, and countless other long time players of cheating just because we are good and get those 7 and 8 kill games.  

So, yes, if people start finding evidence of cheating, we need to do something about it.  But even Ultimo (who is calling out about non-server side cheats in another thread) is not asking for us to overreact, but to figure this out and look for it.

I think this will work out.  If a clan or two has figured out some new cheats, word will get out.  Most people want to win on their own, not using cheats.  So someone in those clans will either leave and spill the beans, or do so by posting the hack anonomously to somone that will spill the beans for them.  Secrets like that never last for long.

Well, I've got time, lots of long plane flights etc. I will just make a copy of Rogue Spear and try and make a non server side cheat. If I don't find anything, then either the people who "Cheat", have no lives whatsoever if they took the time to find out how.  So, I will give it a shot, see if I can make one, if I do find a way, I will try and make a mod like thing to prevent it.
Also, what CheatPrevention mod does is protect against people modding armor, Guns etc. So that they can have an advantage on their serever, it doesn't check anyone else, just the host.

i think i know what casper is talking about.  Force cbed Task, but we got into an argument while casper was about to begin his hosting.  He had the cheat-prevention mod on, and expected us to have it on.  There was an arguement resulting in casper finally taking off the mod.  Casper, that mod is to make sure the HOST doesn't cheat.  So if ur talking about our cb, we would never cheat

or maybe ur talking about someone completely different and i'm a clueless moron, either way, fill me in plz.

It is funny to see newbies accuse me of cheating, especially in cb's (when I fought in them a long time ago in a place far far away).

Like Grifter said, most cheats have been seen at the server side only...although it wouldnt surprise me to see an aimbot ported over.

The way I used to tell my clan to check for cheats was to use all 5 "warmup/lagtest" games by using the odd guns (sniper rifles, skorps, uzis, and shotties)...if you do that, you should be fine.

That's a good point Sin.  Especially since all the cheats I've seen were to guns like the Skorp or the Barret (the guns most people would never choose in a CB).  The shotty is a good choice as well.

One other cheat I saw was not taking any nades made you run faster (actually, not taking any kit items).

I've never seen any of these pulled in a CB, but in normal games.  I'd like to continue thinking that only one person has even tried to cheat in a CB so far.

First, I did not mean to mod the guns. It was a bug in RS. It took 3 reinstalls to fix it.

I don't think that there are any anti-cheater's for RS. You could check with United Admins though.

If you have ever played CS on the PC, and then tried it with a cheater, you get worse. I was playing with a cheater for about 6 hours and then I took it off and my kill ratio went up. LoL

In caspers defense Kilzo, he didnt acuse anyone in his thread. He simply stated that ppl. cheat, and they do. Maybe you should read posts alot slower to make sure you understand them 1st before you start yelling at someone, just a suggestion

ok, for me, cheating kills a game, i mean, if i woulda cheated at Deus Ex i wouldn't think of it as one of the best games i've ever played. I think that cheating at RS online is kinda dumb. Its nice to be able to play good without cheating, and have noobs acusing you of cheating. Play games for the fun of it, not just to win.
