hey, i would suggest two sites:
paintballreview.com
xpaintball.com
both are informative, and have decent prices. as for equipment, i started with a basic Tippman 98 Custom (tippman.com), and then upgraded the barrel, co2, trigger etc when i got better and needed the stuff. The gun is from beginner-moderate levels, but if you want pro stuff, that's big time expensive autocockers and stuff. The Tippmans cost about 150 at your local store, i got mine used for 100. Good luck!

yea, that looks like a pretty decent buy if you can get it! You may also want to try ebay, ive seen some for 100 around there. But 165 is definetley a decent price for the whole kit.

Before you buy anything go you
www.paintballwatch.com
, they compare prices on all equipment in every online site. Also try
www.paintball.com
, they have a noob section you can check out. How much are you goin to spend? You can also try ebay, they have some great auctions you can save alot of money on some of the packages there.

i have a 16 oz tank which came with my Custom 98, and it usually lasts through 5-6 games (at roughly 300-400 balls per game) As for paintball, i, and ALL of my friends ALWAYS get them online, if you see any packs (2000 balls) for under 40 bucks, it's worth it. Also, i wouldn't recommend getting pink paint, as it tends to be a bitch to get out of clothes (although that's just my opinion)
As for body armor, i'll usually take a few layers, with a jerzee on the outside, those are everywhere online, and great clothes (plus they look cool) For a helmet, i have a half-faced one now, but really want a full-headed one, because with the half-faced, you really have to where a bandanna or tostle cap to keep paint out of your hair.
Lastly, for a stock, i have the basic screw-in-the bottom of the handle Co2 input, but what you (and i...) really want is to get a "remote" (approx. 10 bucks), a tube that connects to your co2 tank, and then to the input socket of the gun, so you can just wear the tank on your hip of back, which calls for better aim and balance. I'm currently looking at the CAR Stock for the tippman, which is just like a regular, adjustable M4 stock (and it looks realy cool - those run for about 60 bucks.

A good noob gun and all around gun for that matter is the tippmann Model 98. It is very durable and good to learn on. I dont suggest an autococker until you are a bit more experienced as it is a bitch to maintain. Whatever you do dont get an angel. The paintball world dosent need another guy who is awesome just because he has a $1000 paintball gun. Angel does not shoot paint. It shoot bs.

Spyder is a very good brand. Tippmann is made mostly for rental guns and noobie guns. The only bad thing about spyders is that they have a reputation to break easily. I really do suggest a tippmann so you can understand how a paintball gun works and how to take care of it.

I've been playing with a crummy Spyder One for about 2 years, and I haven't had any problems with it so far. I clean it constantly, probably psychotically, though. All I've ever had to do was change the o-rings a few times. As for tanks, I'd recommend getting the big 20, because you'll probably end up getting one anyways, so you might as well get one now. Now, for protection, the only thing I wear(besides a mask) is a t-shirt, cargo pants, and a cup. Get a cup if you don't have one. You'll get shot in the balls eventually. I'd also recommend a neck guard, because getting shot in the throat isn't fun. I don't wear one personally, because my mask offers pretty good protection, and I always keep my chin down just in case. Just remember that paintball is a pretty expensive hobby. There is no real better gun, either. Spyder and Tippman both make decent guns. I'd recommend testing them both out first though. If you buy from a field, they'll generally let you try them before you buy em. Hope that helps.
