I see that the Macbook's run apps pretty much the same as the MBP's : http://barefeats.com/mbcd4.html

Which is not suprising considering they have the same CPU but maybe this is a better/cheaper option.

For sake of reducing redundancy of the MacBook's advantages being the MacBook Pro's disadvantages, I will list the advantages for each.

MacBook Pro:

Advantages
• GPU - Obviously
• Screen Size and Resolution - Obvious Advantage, Choice of non-gloss or gloss
• Case Design/build - Backlit keyboard (Still a big thing)

MacBook

Advantages
• Price - Yeah Obvious
• Practical Design - Easy to replace hard drive, RAM, even CPU (with a bit of effort)
• Advantages of Redesign - Keyboard, Magnetic latch

I will maintain that August will bring great new MBPs; New CPUs, updated design/practicality, New GPUs, more features (maybe new motherboard will bring FW800/SATA).

Somewhat of an older topic, but I didn't see it addressed.

1. The Adobe Suite is only $400 EDU and it can be used on professional projects.
2. Quark is shit.

At the UMaine computer store they offer Adobe CS 2 INcluding: GoLive, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat Pro all for $195

And they offer Macromedia Studio 8 for $179.  Pretty good deals Smiley

Lotta good that would do...Seeing how the install phones home, and wont install on multiple machines..that is IF (and big if) you got past me and my arsenal of weapons..which i bought as protection from software home invasioners like you guys... id mow your asses down with my nerf pellet shottie, and rubber disc guns...

I really hope they redesign DreamWeaver, cause I don't want to use it.
I'd rather use an old version of GoLive, and this is from my own experience.

Started with dreamweaver and i prefer it, i guess it just shows that you get stuck in your ways Wink Then again i certainly wouldn't have complained if they had overhauled the interface.

Not that there are alot of apps, but there are some that use the Java-bridge in Cocoa.
Anyway, let's not turn this into a flame war, nor hijacking of the thread.

The following applies to CS2: Photoshop

• New and improved auto-cloning repair brush..automatically sample neighboring areas for accurate and fast blemish removal.

• Much improved patch tool with perspective tool..good for handling blemishes that recede into the background by camera angle perspective. ie  fixing blemishes or scratches on receding brick walls, roads, fences, etc...

• camera lens distortion removal is improved (ie for bowing removal of items shot with wide angle lenses)

• "Camera Raw" which is the photographers batch processing dream..allowing white point setting, exposure, brightness, color correction, midtone contrast adjustments..and more robust gamut warnings...all with click processing or batch..

• CR also allows you to create a sort of digital negative that does not affect the original, that would allow you to process one shot for a blown out sky, another version for the mid & 3/4 tones, and then creating a composite using the two custom exposures using the 'paint with history' tool..

• new surface blur features for fashion photography touchup

•improved application by cut and paste of layer styles..

•  Return of the customizable sizes in the Contact Sheet creation feature...which was removed in contact sheet II..which FUCKING SUCKED ASS..but now all is good with the world.

• Custom Comp sets..allows for several version of the same document..like grouped folder sets but more complex

•vanishing point tool..for persepective..

•new but not necesarily improved way of linking layers..(i dont like it)

•instant pixel aspect ratio adjusting for converting to common video ratios

• the best feature of all..SMART OBJECTS..allow import of vector items, with a reference to the original..that you can go back and modify at any time before finally rasterizing into document.. Placing an .ai logo that eventually gets edited..the smart object will auto update, or you can access the original from within PS to go edit original..

Im sure there are more, just cant recall off the top of my head..
