memory questions

1. Any good mac memory sites out there? so far i've checked ramjet and memory to go.
2. The memory at ramjet claims that it will work under all future firmware updates. Is that a big issue with ram? i.e. have you ever had a problem with 3rd party ram
3 the lowest price i have seen for a 512 meg module that fits the 17' imac is 90.72 on memory to go, have you seen anywhere lower?
4. would it be wise to spend the extra 22 bucks on ramjet for the lifetime warrenty, or just a waste of money?
thanks in advance

brain,
memory to go has always been the lowest price i've found. grifter had a problem with one simm for an ibook, and they overnighted him a replacement and a prepaid box to return the bad one. service was great.
zaitsev, that was brain, not grifter.

Well, you have the wrong name, but I can still give you an answer.
All of these things can be set in your profile, which you can access from the profile button near the top of the page.
Another memory related question
Ramjet shows a 144 pin memory module that goes in the user slot.
Memory to go?shows a picture of what looks to be a 168 pin memory module when i click on the user slot link. Is this just a image difference, or am I looking at the wrong product on one of these two sites?

brain, i'd have no idea without knowing which machine you were buying ram for. i'll guess that it's just an image deal. the only time you have to be really careful is when you are ordering ram for an older imac. it had two different types of modules (high and low profile). the low profile one was more expensive, but it's the one you needed to add. this was for the imacs previous to the dv models.

I jammed 2 PC133 cards in my PC100 slots (iMac DV+ 450)
1 of 256 Mb, 1 of 128. Havent ever gotten trouble with it.
oh yeah, they're both 3rd party, and one is just bought off a PC RAM site.

brain, there are two types of ram for the new imacs, and they are different chip sets, which means that there is a size / space issue with them. there is a user slot, which should be empty (and easy to get to), and an apple slot, which is where the current dimm is. so the question is, how much do you want to add.
i'd suggest adding the user 512 from memorytogo first. especially since it's about $40 cheaper. then, later, if you decide that 768megs isn't good enough, you can change the second (apple) module out for another 512 (which would then max it out at 1gig).
