Beefy it is important to read in between the lines. Becasue the world is never what it seems to be. Plus is there any logical way you can prove Grifter is dead? This might be a rouse to retire from gr, or a drama trick. I still beleive Grifter (bless his soul) is dead but is there any sure fire proof to know that someone is dead when they are over the internet. Always look around and suspect everyone. Anyhow this is getting way off topic. I wont reply on this subject after this post.

Yeah, about 6... if not more. The thing is, I never got to quote anything anyone ever said, so watching me at it and actually succeed in doing it takes time. Like anything else, right?

lets see.. when me and my bro started, we used MGS charachters, because MGS just kicks ass. We used "Sniper Wolf", "Gray Fox", "Meryl Silverburgh", and prolly a couple others. I kicked around a couple other names i had used, my AOL names "TheMax2", "Maximilian The Great", and "spazmotik" but they didn't really work.
So, time marches on and i start listening to Anti-Flag. And then the fateful day comes when, in one big swoop, i start *NADS and become Capt. Anarchy all at once. While, of course, listening to Anti-Flag.
Interesting you say that. I had been playing Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear for months before I finally explored the CD and found the GameRanger app. Ever since R6 I had loved sniping and always used Dieter Weber. Anyway, when I logged into GR for the first time, I thought about a name, and decided that since I loved sniping, it should have something to do with that. It was also around this time that MGS1 was out, and I was playing it a lot. So I thought, "Hey, Sniper Wolf's a cool name, I'll use that." However, people kept asking me what Sniper Wolf was, and I was getting sick of telling them it was a MGS Character. So I changed to Sniper. Then in FBI I became SNiPER. And then in Agt, I cut it down to SNiPE, since there were way to many "Sniper"s out there. And that's the story of my name. Nice idea for a thread brain!

Kilzo is the Graffiti name of my oldest known friend. It just seemed like a perfect name for this game.
And Cossak, Grif did take his name after the comic book character. One day while he was helping me set up my KDX server we had a lengthy conversation about comics and such. He liked the fact that Grifter was a bad-ass anti-hero.
And I highly doubt a man with his intellect would try and pull a fast one on all his friends by faking his own death to retire from GR...he would just leave...

Sorry Buccaneer. Seeing as I never even knew Deadeye I got a bit suspicious. That is all. I know faking a death would be a stupid joke to do. As I said before I beleive Grifter died. I have faith in that truth. I was just thinking things through. And inteligence has nothing to do with it. I knew a guy on my other forums who wanted to quit it. Every one respected him like Grifter. So he got an alter ego charecter and said that he died. Later on someone with the same style of typing and ip came on to this forum and we all got suspicious. It turned out someone raised the same question as I did in this forum. Turned out after constant flaming we found out that the guy was the guy that said he died. He lost total respect and was banned from the board. This is why I am suspicious when I hear of a death of my internet freinds. I do not doubt Grifter's death or you people. And I am sorry for mildly insulting you. This was just a thought that popped into my head. I hope you people see my point. It is totally impossible to tell what happens to your internet freinds. Unless you know them or know some one else personally, or have a death certificate yada yada yada

How far off topic are we going to go? I guess that this happens to most topics eventually though.
I dunno where my name came from... I was just messing around, and found out it looked good in a Quakeworld

ok, let's look at it this way cossak, what reasons would grifter have for faking his own death?
to leave the forum? well he could just retire, that would be simple, and there would be no backlash if he left.
to fool us all? why? and, does that sound like grifter to you?
for a big joke and he will eventually announce his return? i doubt it, if grifter was faking and came out and admited that he faked it, he would be shunned and he would have 0 respect, something that i got the impression he strived for.
now what reasons do these new ppl have for lying to us? no good ones that i can think of. they arent asking for money, they have supplied us with information with out obviously withholding anything? i dont even see a good motovation.
so, look at the 2 situations: 1)grift died. 2)grift is faking. using acham's <sp?> razor we see that the simpelist situation(and therefore the most likely) is that grift actually died.
no, all me nieve if you want, but i think that if there is no good reason for a person to lie, why would they in the first place?

My origin story: when I was merely an infant, I was bitten by a radioactive spider, beaned with a chunk of Kryptonite, dropped into a vat of boiling green liquid, doused with gamma radiation, had my mutant gene artifically stimulated, and was given a nifty green ring. However, that has nothing to do with my name.
When I first got AOL (2.1, I believe. Back in the day), I took the name Big Red 100, based on my school nickname. A year or so later, I wanted to change my name, so I went with Jaltir, which was the name of the character I played in a MUD called Gemstone III. Jaltir is still my AIM SN to this day. Some time later, when I got involved with message boards, a wider scope of e-mail, etc., I wanted a name which would cause fewer questions about its origin. A bit of thought was enough to come up with Lothario, which has a good sound and an entertaining meaning. Unfortunately, it was taken. So I went with Mr. Lothario, which has not been taken on any service I've tried so far. When I first came on to GR, I simply used the same name. Now, I am master of the dodging mojo and of the suck, alternately.
