Mac Question Help!

Hi Guys,
Question:
For my iMac, 266, I went to go plug in my keyboard in the top USB port (I think port 1) and the keyboard didn't work....but when I went to plug it in the bottom USB port (I think port 2) the keyboard worked....
The mouse, SuperDisk Drive, both worked fine with the top USB port, but the keyboard didn't....Now, my question is, Is the keyboard only meant to be plugged in the bottom one? or is the pos just messed up?

my keyboard is pluged into the bottom port. maybe your keyboard is broken... but how did you  type this if the keyboard isent working?

Buff, I'm guessing that your keyboard is a powered USB device. I'm also guessing that Port 1 is not a powered USB port.

It doesn't quite make sense to me to have only one of the two ports in the back being powered...

The USB ports on the keyboard are not powered either.

Zomar, bottom port = port 2, which I'm guessing is the powered port.

Zomar, hehe, his keyboard didn't work in the top port but when he plugged it into the bottom port it worked, so he was able to type this. Like Wrath said, on my brother's imac there were a couple of different things that didn't work in one of the ports, I dont' quite remember what they were but I remember plugging them in and not working.

buff, same thing happens all the time on my 233 iMac. I'm pretty sure it's happened with a bunch of other people as well (the the apple forums).

The solution: leave your keyboard in usb port 2

So...to summarize, USB port 1 (the top port) is NOT a powered USB port? and Black, can you post me a URL on the apple forum where you read this plze? Thanks!
