I am still having trouble with mods on my Mac.

I have read everything I can find and tried everything I can think of short of  trashing everything, reloading Ghost Recon and starting from scratch.

Mods do not seem to want to let me past the end of Mission 1 in Ghost Recon. It may be Specialist/hero files as I have seen some weird things here, including a Specialist with no name who does not show up on the squad or comand screens but is there.

I only run one mod at a time. I do not even put Desert Siege in. Can anyone give me something to try. Cocobolo says talk to Mauti "he's the Mac man. Am I in the right place?

Hi Lupus,

first never deactivate Desert Siege. It has to be always at the top of the mod list(lowest priority)(the list is inverted that means the mods lower in the list have higher priority). What mod are you using? If you use campaign mods don't play the original campaign. Weapon mods should work fine. Furthers some mods require the 1.4 patch while others doesn't work anymore with the 1.4 patch.

Bye,

Thanks for the responce Mauti!

1) Regarding Desert Siege:
Ok, great I should put Desert Siege back in. That is probably one of my problems. I was guessing that the top mod in the list was the higher priority & I could not get Desert Siege to relinquish that position. I will leave Desert Siege in not worrying about it being higher in the list and assume that using the increase priority button will make the Mod the higher priority.

2)Regarding Types of Mods:
I am not clear on what the difference is between Mission, Weapon and Complete Mods. (the categories listed in the Mac downloads area).

I did do the Mac upgrade to get Ghost Recon on the Mac to the same level as on PCs.

The mods I have in my mods file that show up in my mods under options in the game are:

// Mods Contents
NAME        "DTD> Israel Defense Forces"
AUTHOR      "DTD Pro Mod Team"
SUPPORT     "http://www.planetrainbowsix.com/dtd/"
VERSION     "1.2a"

// Mods Contents
NAME?Huh??"SPV4"
AUTHOR?Huh??"SOTOMac, SOTOReco"
SUPPORT?Huh??"mac@sotoclan.com, reco@sotoclan.com"
VERSION?Huh??"4.0"
MULTIPLAYER???"Server-Client"

// Mods Contents
NAME        "Navy SEALS 2.0"
AUTHOR      "Piccolo"
SUPPORT     "chriscartman@hotmail.com"
VERSION     "2.0"
MULTIPLAYER "Server-Client"

// Mods Contents
NAME        Huh"Black Sun 3.0"
AUTHOR      Huh"=DRAG="
SUPPORT     Huh"www.ravenmouth.org"
VERSION     Huh"3.0"
MULTIPLAYER???"Server-Client"

I "loaded" these mods by physically draging and dropping their file folders into the the GR mods file.

The DTD Mod has worked best for me I have a Campaign running in Mission6. DTD is the only Mod.I have gotten beyond Mission1 in a Campaign. The other mods tend to crash the game between Mission1 and Mission2. DTD is listed as a weapons mod I believe. I think Black Sun is a weapons mod too.

SPV4 I got from a link that SOTOMac had on a post he made answering a post I made. SOTOMac suggested in an email that I just put the files in the Mods folder manually; his installer is for PCs he explained. I do not know if this is a weapons mod or what? I thought SOTOMac was a Mac user making Mac mods, but maybe Mac is just his name.

Navy Seals is listed as a Complete Mod. I am not sure what that means in terms of how to use it. I am guessing that "Complete" Mods change things that Weapons mods do not. It seems that Weapons mods may change things like skins and Complete mods change weapons though so whats the difference?

Thanks again for the help.

Weapon mods change only weaps. Total Conversions many aspects of a game. You could call the IDF mod also a TC because it gives the game a new look and feel. However some campaign mods temporay overwrite the original campaigns as long as you have activated them so you can't continue the original campaign. Well in this case it doesn't matter. Btw did you have more luck now with playing through the campaign with a weapon mod!?

Thanks again for the information Mauti.

I have put Desert Siege back in and it does seem to run better. I think some of the weapon options etc. changed a little. I put SOTOMac's Mod, Navy Seals and Black Sun in just to see and they all ran. I started a new Campaign in Desert Siege with the DTD Mod and had no problem getting to the second Mission. I believe it does run better.

I have not had time to run one of the other mods (other than DTD which was working before) through Mission 1 to see if I have a problem getting Mission2 going. I was sort of waiting to see if I got a responce to the post above, in case someone said I should not run one of those mods. I am also assuming that it should be no problem switching between a "Weapons" Mod and a TC as long as I go through the proper deactivation and reactivation procedures, remembering to restart Ghost Recon any time I change Mods.

Since no one has mentioned any problems with the mods I listed on a Mac I will try to run them all through Mission1 in Ghost Recon or Desert Siege and see if I still have trouble getting Mission 2. I think there is a "cheat" code I may be able to use to move me past Mission 1 to Mission2, just to see if  it works now.

Thanks again for the help!

Soon as I get this running I will be working on Island Thunder Shocked) Grin
