The chance to see Halo on the *DAMN BL isn't that low. Not for season 7 but may season 8 will have a Halo ladder because I think it allows great teamplay while not being only yet another Quake or UT clone. However I haven't played it in mp yet so my knowledge is only from Halo Mac reviews.

Bye,

I don't understand where everyone is coming from? When you open up Halo, it gives you the option to play in a window! So you can set up on GR and play in the window. Another thing is, it gives you the choice of how fast you want to play 30fps, VSYNC, or just SYNC. Also, you choose the speed of your internet connection.  For example, if someone has 56k and can host, they can onlyhave 2 people play, and it is exponitial growth from there for internt.  I play c|lightwave a lot in Halo, and we use his airport, DSL connect and it runs well if he is in the Airport Base Station range.  Now, if you actually messed around in the option window at start up or go into the settings and look around, you might be able to change your opinion. I wish I had a better computer than my iBook...

The game plays fine, though I'm not a big fan of it.

The real problem lies in drumming up enough support IN ONE PLACE.

Since Halo players wont congregate on GameRanger, like they do with the R6 games, it will be much the same as AA.  In AA, you can set any AA server up in your favorites and join from GR, but you have to get the clans together, a few of them at least.  Even with the official AA forums, not enough interest was drummed up for a single CB last season.

Why (seriously, I am asking) would Halo be any different?  If there aren't 4 or 5 clans really committed to playing it (above other games) how can a ladder work?  After the 4 or 5, you can get a few more that play multiple games, but you need a core of clans that will actually CB and look for CB's.

So the chances of a MP Halo game against another clan might happen, my gut feeling is it will be another AA though... the lack of GR support just makes 'meeting and greeting' that more difficult.

Will there be a Halo ladder?
I think enough people play it for there to be a Ladder. Heck theres even a halo clan (SE).

one clan isnt enough to have a ladder running. it?d be the same like last season with AA... the only real AA clan was -a2-, the ladder was completely inactive. we?ll see if something happens this season.
my opinion is that games which are not supported by GameRanger have no real chance to have an active ladder.

isnt there a rumour though which says Halo will get GameRanger support with its next update?

The difference between AA and Halo is that in Halo, the everyday player like you and me can host, thus making cb's possible.

I know there are plenty of people in c| that would play on the Halo ladder.  So that's at least 2 clans.

Well, all in all if there was a Halo tournament I would sign up :MoD: for it just because the game is a blast, even though it is more like Quake III in a sense then RvS or GhR.  In either event it is true that it has good ability to have a good team oriented game, and with the vehicles it makes it even better for some good team play.  Although Punkbuster should be introduced to the scene cause there is still the cheating issues that are already aparrent on the regular servers.

So far we have 3, and once i get ahold of Doc, that should make 4.  If you guys want 5, im sure we can find someone =D

The next question is a server...anyone have a server capable of hosting a 4v4 or 5v5?  *looks over in Bucc's direction*   Grin Grin
